    It's the same as any abandoned car, city puts it in impound and if no one claims goes to auction. At that point it goes to a salvage yard and crushed when there is no viable parts left. Like a bunch of animals feeding on a dead carcass until its bones.

    I saw one out here the last week, its getting stripped pretty well and not much left.

    It's much more than people scared of number on paper going down. There's an entire industry around mortgages, refi, securities, reverse mortgages, credit lines, credit swaps etc basically property is a giant credit card to get more liquid cash. So the economy will get nuked if things start to unwind too much. It's a big problem and id like to see a bitcoin standard, get things on a sustainable humble path. That's never going to happen until things implode and get so bad people say okay maybe we bought a few too many 5th wheels and corvettes.

    Few years back mom backed into my car, it was in the driveway. Put a hole in the bumper cover and I swapped it out with a new one pre-painted from ebay. If you have the means to work on stuff i find it better than waiting on body shops and going through that whole thing. In either case it will be worth it to that guy to avoid the insurance hit and pay you cash for a shop or your time.

    The purpose is pretty simple, they jail anyone they think is making the replacements feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. They live in trash piles back home and dump garbage on empty land so cleaning it up is seen as an act of hostility by the gov.
