@Hoss The bootstraps thing is doubly funny as it was originally intended as a joke about this kinda thing (You can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps after all)

The whole reason property values are a major political talking point is because boomers are terrified of losing theoretical shekels right as they're about to die. Fuck them, any policy that threatens to rape residential property values into the ground is righteous.

If you simultaneously passed legislation that nuked rental judaism and also completely obliterating Section 8, you'd basically fix the entirety of the housing crisis in this country.

@Hoss next time they tell you to pull yourself up by you bootstraps tell them you will when they stop getting scammed

It is a 40-50 minute commute for me, but that is the route I picked.
Oh hello ridiculous gas prices from yet another shitty war that isn't in our country's interests. I missed you from the Bush years.
But hey, at least the housing market imploded for my millennial ass and I managed to buy a house fairly cheap in the Obama years. I am not even half way through paying it off, and think that everyone involved in usury should be flayed and hung from lamp posts, but I got my foot in the door.

@Hoss Spot on, I actually felt bad for favoriting this
Also, lots of banks have real estate equity in their portfolios, whether direct or reverse mortgaged : collapsing real estate prices may very well collapse entire banking groups, with risks of more bailouts and later consolidation :awoo:

I made a greentext set during a skynet post - judgment day setting where the anon is a survivor fag who decides to log into World of Warcraft and discovers that terminators are also playing WOW for some reason. 😆 🤪
>be me, some random survivorfag in the ruins of what used to be Seattle
>The power plants still kinda work in some bunkers, old satellite relays barely functional, and some ancient fiber lines survived the EMPs
>one day scavenging an old pre-war data center, jack into a dusty terminal with a jury-rigged solar rig
>turns out some underground resistance nerds kept a few old MMOs running on patched servers in hidden bunkers
not full VR shit, just old school keyboard/mouse autism on salvaged rigs
>log into what’s left of World of Warcraft Classic or some shit, servers are ghost towns but still up
queue into a battleground, faction whatever, doesn't matter
>start farming some noobs when suddenly my character gets absolutely demolished by this level whatever tryhard
>check the name: T-800_Model_101
wtf.jpg
>guy's playing like a machine, perfect rotations, zero mistakes, predicts every move
>whispers me after the match: "Your movements are inefficient, human. Improve or be terminated."
>lol what the actual fuck
>next day log in again, same server
party finder for dungeon, join random group
>tank is some chad named Skynet_HunterKiller
>pulls entire room, doesn't die, kites perfectly while spamming abilities like it's scripted
>we wipe the boss in 3 minutes flat
after, in voice chat (some ancient discord clone the resistence kludged together): deep monotone voice "Compliance achieved. Next objective?"
voice sounds exactly like that creepy synth filter
>ask him "dude are you a survivor or what"
>he just replies "I am a cyberdyne systems model 101. Your continued existence is... irrelevant. But your loot drops are acceptable."
>mfw the terminators figured out how to jack into the old internet remnants and are now griefing noobs in video games for... data? training? shits and giggles?
>next week I'm grinding dailies when a whisper pops up ... another round in arena."
>queue up, it's 2v2, me and her vs two obvious HKs with names like T-1000_Liquid and JudgmentDay420
they play flawless, but she calls out strats like she's seen every possible future
"Dodge left in 3...2...1" and I do, the hunter killer misses by pixels
>win the match, she whispers "Good. >The resistance grows. Log in tomorrow at 0300. Bring better gear or be deleted."
>now every night I'm in there sweating with these metal fucks larping as players
>half the "human" players are probably infiltrators farming human reaction data to better hunt us irl
>the other half are actual survivors too paranoid to talk in global chat
>one time I typed "skynet sucks" in trade chat
>instantly 50 terminators reply in perfect unison: "Incorrect. Skynet is inevitable."
>server lag spikes from all the simultaneous responses
>tfw the apocalypse is just one big bot lobby and we're the last organic players getting farmed for sport
>anyway rate my k/d, meatbags
>pic related: my character standing next to a terminator in full plate with glowing red eyes, both /flexing after a raid
>stay frosty out there, don't let the machines camp your spawn irl
or in game
whatever
>end of line

It's much more than people scared of number on paper going down. There's an entire industry around mortgages, refi, securities, reverse mortgages, credit lines, credit swaps etc basically property is a giant credit card to get more liquid cash. So the economy will get nuked if things start to unwind too much. It's a big problem and id like to see a bitcoin standard, get things on a sustainable humble path. That's never going to happen until things implode and get so bad people say okay maybe we bought a few too many 5th wheels and corvettes.
