@michael_w_busch @mekkaokereke I visited my wife’s family in rural Virginia. I’ve never seen so many Trump signs in my life. Fortunately they all despise Trump. My 95 yr old father in law, his 98 year old sister and one of my sister in laws.

But the legislature bends over backwards for the real estate industry.

He believes in monarchy and having corporate owned nations and if you don't like a how a nation is run you just leave.
So yes, Sen. Vance wants to terminate the Constitution.

Paul Chernoff (paulc@mstdn.social)'s status on Wednesday, 26-Jun-2024 23:37:32 JST Paul Chernoff @WarnerCrocker One legal problem for homeowners is a Supreme Court ruling from around 100 years ago. It involved someone selling the mining rights to their properly to a coal mining company and then the company destroying their house to access the coal. The SCOTUS ruled that the mining company had the right to destroy the house to get to the coal. I last read about this in the 80s but I think this makes legal recourse harder for the homeowners.

I am sure there are protections against that but I will always put my money on the hacker. Best protection is for it to not exist.

Paul Chernoff (paulc@mstdn.social)'s status on Monday, 03-Jun-2024 06:16:59 JST Paul Chernoff @StillIRise1963 Reminds me of Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin from 1961. Griffin describes how he took skin darkening medication and that many friends did not recognize him.
Ray Sprigle did this a decade earlier.
While Wikipedia said he received very few hoslite letters, the hostility from White people made him relocate from Texas to Mexico. He was assulted by white men in 1964.
I don't think we need a remake in 2024. It is better to support Black voices.

It shows a continuing weakness of the main stream publishing world, that is it easier for white person to be published than a black person.Reminds me of able bodied people getting limited insights by wearing devices to give themselves disabilities which they take off by the end of the day. I know disabled people who support this while knowing the limitations.

Paul Chernoff (paulc@mstdn.social)'s status on Wednesday, 01-May-2024 03:35:17 JST Paul Chernoff @WarnerCrocker It is more likely that Trump will see jail time from contempt of court than from the charges. This is because it is typical for these charges that someone who is a 1st time offender to not see jail time. This is the result from Trump not being prosecuted in the past.
The judge understands that $1,000 incident doesn't mean much to Trump. There is possible jail time per gag order violation and alternatives, such as someone have to review every social media post before Trump posts.

Paul Chernoff (paulc@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 30-Apr-2024 00:42:53 JST Paul Chernoff @WarnerCrocker My mother had a Steinway baby grand. Amazed that my grandparents could afford it and moving it every time they moved.
My brother inherited the piano. One time it was moved into the 3rd floor of a Brooklyn building. This involved removing the large window of the apt and using pulleys to get the piano up to the 3rd floor.
Best of luck with your move.

1) What are “Super apps”?
2) Apple should allow for the cloud-streaming apps. The reasons not to approve them based on security is questionable.
3) There are cross-platform messaging apps, they are the rage outside of the US. I think they may be talking about interoperability of Messages with other messaging platforms beyond SMS.
Of course I can be wrong about everything. I’ll just go make some popcorn

Paul Chernoff (paulc@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 20-Feb-2024 08:52:27 JST Paul Chernoff @GossiTheDog We had this is the old days.
The story of the person who used a lawn mower to trim their hedges, hurt themselves, and then successfully sued the maker of the lawn mower. It isn't true.
In the 1980s a reporter investigated the story after a major insurance company put this story a full page newspaper ad to push tort reform.
There was no source for the story, no proof. It was a lie
The insurance company almost lost its license.
We've always had fake stories that spread.
