      @paulc Sorry I don't have a link, but I read somewhere today that her son said she's not in memory care but in assisted living. Not sure it makes a whole lot of difference.

      @WarnerCrocker Now I have a report that she was at a ceremony on the Hill earlier this month. With photo but can be false.

      @WarnerCrocker I suspect that her family wanted to continue collecting her salary and office expenses. I've been dealing with dementia issues since 2009 and money is a huge factor in many decisions concerning people with dementia. I’m not referring to the cost of care but how family, friends, and con artists will take advantage of people with dementia.

      I include these people with those who continue collecting Soc Sec benefits for deceased relatives.

      @kittizontal @paulc Yup. I know. Living that with my father-in-law currently. I was referring to how her situation (regardless of which) affects the six-month mysterious absence without acknowledgment.

      @WarnerCrocker @paulc
      (You’re under lock and key in memory care so you don’t go a-wandering.)

      @paulc Thanks, P:aul. I am aware of those distinctions. My father-in-law is in memory care and our family lives that daily. I obviously wasn't specific enough in my post, as my point was regardless of the type of care, as a congressperson being essentially absent perhaps without anyone's knowledge, but certainly without official acknowledgement (many have taken leave before due to circumstances such as health) it just seems more than a little problematic.

      @WarnerCrocker My wife is in Assisted Living Memory Care. Assisted Living can mean lots of things but overall it means she gets assistance. She may be capable of Actvities of Daily Living and dealing with her own medications, or not. Memory Care, which is more of a euphemism, is generally locked down and the person cannot leave on their own and has some disability, often Alzheimer’s, but not always. But sounds like she was capable of fulfilling the duties of her office.

      @paulc And having another close relative in assistant living, I know that definition can encompass a wide scope of ability or disability.
