The conspiracy theories on this one are truly bottom of the barrel. Exploding lav mics? We all saw the footage. We all heard a gunshot and a supersonic crack. Questioning the shooter, his motives, and his associates or accomplices makes sense, but they lose me when they start talking about palm pistols and remote detonators. That stuff makes me wonder how those people manage to get into a pair of pants every morning without getting them on their head.

There is no reason to suspect that it was anything but that single round fired.   It was sporterized, with a poly stock. Those are very easy to break down, just a couple screws (and a screwdriver with Tyler's prints on it was found on the roof, btw). He said he brought it with him and attempted to retrieve it because he'd be in trouble if it disappeared from home.

  Like I said, the guy in that video shows a modern rifle that is easy to disassemble. Not an actual Mauser 98 from the WWII era. A 22 year-old isn't going to retrofit an old ass rifle with a modern, easy-to-disassemble barrel unless he took from family that would have done that. There are a dozen Luigi plants ready to take the blame and go to prison for a bag of cash at any given moment. So, he took the time to use a screwdriver to disassemble the rifle, then leaves the screwdriver (with his prints on it) then after jumping off a building, he decides it's a great idea to take the now disassembled rifle out of his backpack and drop it in the woods?   And, if the defense raised enough doubt to leverage a plea bargain to get the death penalty off the table, he will plead guilty and give allocution, detailing exactly what he did in his own words.

  Also, it's not necessarily a "confession" if it doesn't corroborate the crime. A naked "I did it" can be prejudicial and excluded from evidence.
  
  The reason is that "confessions" are an exception to the hearsay rule. Thus, if the only effect of the utterance is to make other evidence look more damming, rather than to show unique knowledge of the crime, etc, a good defense attorney will get it thrown out.

And, did you see the picture of the bullet compared to test fired cartridges? And hear her explanation for why it couldn't be made conclusive to the rifle, specifically? Threatened? In on it?
  
  The CrimeLab agent. She found the rifle wrapped in the towel. She found the engraved cartridges and all the prints at on the roof, and the shoe print in the grass next to the building. She also packaged the evidence (there is a tamperproof procedure) and sent it to the FBI. Threatened or in on it?
  
  The FBI agent and her supervisor. They found the prints on the weapon, the cartridges, the dremmel, the dremmel bits, the shoe that matched the footprint on the grass.
  
  The prosecution. In on it? Threatened? Are they knowingly prosecuting a innocent person? Or, do you think that they just believe all those other people?
  
  What about the defense? Threatened? In on it? They haven't said shit about anything but the bullet alleged to have struck Tyler and the DNA methodology in testing. No questions about burns that would be caused by an explosion. No questions about planted evidence or faked evidence. They in on it, too? Or just being threatened?
  
  Can I prove that Tyler confessed? Not yet. I can suggest that the evidence that he did confess is more than enough for probable cause to believe he did. If there is a trial, these people will testify to it, and the defense will not suggest otherwise. There will be no challenge regarding a coersed confession or that a confession took place.

  Apparently, and I don't know the case at all, Reade was accused by people directly related to the people involved and that they falsified evidence because of that relationship. Further, in that case, the evidence was scant and circumstantial, which is why she had a hung jury in the first trial. Several people in the jury saw through the lies before they were exposed. And then later, the evidence was shown to be faked by the federal police, which led to an acquittal.
  
  In this case, the evidence is not circumstantial. There is plenty of physical evidence, a confession, as stated by Tyler's parents, boyfriend, and friends. He's on video with a rifle that generally matches the rifle that fired the bullet recovered, taking the shot at the exact time Charlie is struck, causing a supersonic crack that is only possible by material being accelerated to supersonic speed. And it was the Feds that examined the evidence and came to their conclusions damning Tyler.

  That doesn’t even require the last line. Charlie was allegedly a friend of the president, which means anyone with any inkling of political understanding would recognize the meaning and danger.
