The hypersonic crack, which can only, reasonably, be caused by a barrel, was heard by 2000 people including the senior officer of the UVU police department, who was there that day, and testified to hearing.

You can argue that the round should have done more damage, but you have to explain how the bullet jacket fragment and 4 pieces of lead got into Charlie, and explained away the hypersonic rifle crack.
