@thomasfuchs @MichaelPorter I keep cringing at all the “eclipse glasses” — which are just thin film — being given to children. One tiny, well-positioned scratch = instant blindness. NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE EFFING SUN.

@WarnerCrocker @davidtoddmccarty I think maybe I’m also *just old enough* that the charms of sloppy, DIY-style production values — endemic in this era of social media, alas — are almost completely lost on me. (Ironically, the person I’m mainly thinking of is almost exactly my age (and not on Mastodon, in case anyone thinks I’m subtooting).)

@WarnerCrocker @davidtoddmccarty there are tech folks who put out software courses; time is finite, so while I could figure this stuff out on my own, I pay to learn the fast-path through the weeds. Then they can’t stop saying “go ahead and…” every 8 words, the same way many people “um…” and “uh” and “like” their way through everything, and it’s irritating enough that I stop buying their courses.

Nobody thinks they need professional help with this. Nearly everybody does.
