     @davidtoddmccarty I agree. But to me the more intriguing question is why can’t either party can’t hire good coaches to make these so called big moment rebuttals seem at least moderately better than a bad SNL skit.

     @tantramar @davidtoddmccarty I mostly get “grossly and badly staffed and coached.” Aside from the obvious lies that always get trotted out in these things, off of the top of my head, I can think of at least a few dozen folks who could coach them into a decent presentation in less than an afternoon.

     @tantramar @davidtoddmccarty Exactly. Back when I used to do videos for GBM I was way below average at it. That said, I could coach folks into being pretty good whether it was on video or just public speaking.

     @WarnerCrocker @davidtoddmccarty there are tech folks who put out software courses; time is finite, so while I could figure this stuff out on my own, I pay to learn the fast-path through the weeds. Then they can’t stop saying “go ahead and…” every 8 words, the same way many people “um…” and “uh” and “like” their way through everything, and it’s irritating enough that I stop buying their courses.

     Nobody thinks they need professional help with this. Nearly everybody does.

     @WarnerCrocker @davidtoddmccarty I think maybe I’m also *just old enough* that the charms of sloppy, DIY-style production values — endemic in this era of social media, alas — are almost completely lost on me. (Ironically, the person I’m mainly thinking of is almost exactly my age (and not on Mastodon, in case anyone thinks I’m subtooting).)
