I am re-reading Dune. This quote by the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam is remarkable:

“Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”

It's not about a Terminator-style AI-apocalypse where the machines want to kill us all dead. It's just an accurate prediction of what actually appears to be happening.

@ariadne @argv_minus_one @andreasdotorg @jubilee if I take what @falcon wrote to mean: "by all means, choose a memory safe language, but don't expect it to solve all your problems and then cook tea for you" then I'd agree. Memory safe languages are nice and exciting, but the boring stuff still needs to be done.

@inthehands maybe it's simply about ridding oneself of the awful decision making. Throwing dice in a way that allows one to convince oneself one's not just rolling dice.

@Nike_Leonhard @tagesschau wenn erst das Gendersternchen verboten ist, wird alles besser.

@Nike_Leonhard @tagesschau Schulpolitik wird in Deutschland nicht für Kinder und Jugendliche gemacht sondern vor allem für Boomer, die die Gewissheit brauchen, daß man in der Schule heute noch das lernt, was sie gelernt haben. Das muß ja wichtig sein, sonst hätten sie es ja wohl nicht gelernt.

Und da viele außer Handschrift und Rechtschreibung gar nichts gelernt haben, steht das schon mal ganz oben.
