Stu (tehstu@hachyderm.io)'s status on Monday, 19-Feb-2024 03:59:22 JST Stu @inthehands one interesting side effect of all this HR AI is that, as I potentially need to reenter the job hunting game, I'm thinking of creating a resume not formatted for clarity to people, but absolutely optimized plain text for algorithms.
Sigh.

Stu (tehstu@hachyderm.io)'s status on Thursday, 25-Jan-2024 00:11:23 JST Stu @inthehands Not *quite* sure if this is in scope, but I use FreshRSS self-hosted on a Pi. I like how no-nonsense light it all is.
Prior to wanting to move everything I could to self-host, I was using Inoreader which was, admittedly, really good. Itself a replacement for Feedly, which I was on forever due to Google Reader.
He says, inadvertently writing out the history of my interfacing with sites.

Stu (tehstu@hachyderm.io)'s status on Monday, 08-Jan-2024 04:22:34 JST Stu @thomasfuchs I agree completely, although just want to caveat that I've enjoyed some aspects of VR. I played a game called Super Hot on my son's Quest 2 and it was... extraordinary. Like, roll on the holodeck levels of immersion.
Of course, the whole *verse thing is just rehashed Second Life cobblers, into the sea with that.

I'm a member of an old forum where a climate change thread was started in 2009. Usual denial nonsense. I bump it occasionally, to point out similar idiocy as the Daily Mail in early posts.
Anyway, as I grew up in the UK, it blows my mind how a rag like the Mail got such a large international following. I mean, fair enough, they nailed the Internet transition. But it's an absolute tabloid.

Stu (tehstu@hachyderm.io)'s status on Friday, 15-Dec-2023 16:12:56 JST Stu @HauntedOwlbear At some point, I suspect people who don't want to see any Threads will defederate anyone who hasn't defederated Threads. That's when we'll all start losing contacts. Probably unknowingly.

Stu (tehstu@hachyderm.io)'s status on Friday, 15-Dec-2023 09:31:10 JST Stu @davidrevoy Mastodon really ought to have provided much better information to people regarding losing follows when moderation like this takes place. I have absolutely no idea who I'm about to no longer be in contact with as Threads causes this schism. The onus should never have been on me, the individual. It's a total UX own goal.
edit - I know you have your hands full and I apologize for tagging you out of the blue, but this is such a big deal @Gargron

Why are we ceasing production of ICE and switching to EVs? Grasping for a cynical reason, to give car manufacturers their 3D Blu Ray or 4k TV moment?
