@inthehands I think I read Plemora (for example) is easier to stand up to make throwaway harassment comments. This is all so very broken.

@inthehands we've pretty much abandoned bespoke work on machine learning and are trying to shoehorn this square LLM crap into a variety of shaped holes. Some just happen to be squares, which gets everyone prematurely excited.

I despair.

@GossiTheDog I wish this was publicized more. We're a small, slow moving org and don't have this sort of money to piss away while we figure out the efficacy of these things. Still very much on the beginning portion of this rollercoaster.

@inthehands it may have been easier in France (and elsewhere, such as the UK) because election cycles are shorter. But here, it's an (increasingly important) election every other year, and talk of the election can dominate for most of the year. It's ridiculous having to keep this energy up for that length of time.

I've never formally taught, only community level stuff years ago and, these days, mentoring colleagues. 100% agree on the difficulty. At least, for folks who have the humility to have that self-reflection.

So went to look up how I could watch it and realized Pirates of Silicon valley is a film I somehow haven't seen. But then reading up on it, apparently Noah Wyle took the role of Jobs after seeing what I thought you were talking about - the "Triumph of the Nerds" PBS doc.

Anyway, now I need to find both!

@inthehands if people look at the Clinton's health headlines and can't make the connection, then it's just confirmation bias. You're (unfortunately) useful idiots, at that point. It doesn't matter that there's one iota of a chance of a switch at this stage for Dems, versus Trump shrugging it off if there were the same editorials for him.

I mean, given Project 2025 is nakedly open, this is all organized by *someone*, it benefits the news cycle, and it pulls in people hoping for better.

@thomasfuchs I don't think so, unfortunately. The left was hounded out of the party, and Starmer the centrist installed. Business interests will still be well served under Labour, as they were under Blair/Brown. I assume they just want the circus put to rest.

Luckily, I have a local choice to avoid either.
