@skinnylatte Whatever the reason, as food travels around the globe, it changes to fit the local culture. On masto here, we had a discussion once about all the variations of pizza around the world. Some purist Italians were unhappy with that, but it's what happens: food recipes get changed in every locality. It's a complement.
@josh0@augieray CW should be used rarely, and primarily on obscene images, IMO. I can see a CW on blood and gore, Trump images, grapgic sex images, stuff like that. Not ever on text. I'm also put off that every post in response to a CW post is also CW'd. Just because I put a CW on a photo of something obscene doesn't mean every post following should have a CW.
@StillIRise1963 Installation? When a figurehead representative is placed in a country by another country, it's called an installation, IIRC. Like a governor- general or a Viceroy. Such as the governor general of Canada that represents the King of England.
@GreenFire@davetroy Both are true. If Trump could be an expansionist like Putin, he would. And sucking out all the media air so nothing else is covered is an effective Trumpian strategy. Because the MSM is on his side. Trump was getting a lot of shit about his nominees. Not so much now that the geographical buffoonery has started.
@davidtoddmccarty How about this: the fediverse may be comparable to the proverbial 'Irish monks that saved Europe' after the fall of Rome? 🙂 @WarnerCrocker
@jaykuo In all my medicare adverts by the corporations, the companies are touting the $2000 cap like it is their own policy, no mention of the law Dems pushed through.
@GottaLaff if there were any non-fascists in the Republican house, they could counteract Musk by voting for Jefferies. The dems still wouldn't have the votes to pass any laws, but it would thwart Musk.
@GottaLaff yep. Agree. It's now my number one evidence that the USA Republican party IS the fascist party. They are following the wealthy migrant fascist crowd. The domestic libertarians like the Kochs must be out of favor.
@skinnylatte I found this article about Hedge funds buying vet clinics. From the article: "According to the FTC, private equity firms have been acquiring a large number of veterinary clinics and consolidating them into larger groups, resulting in increased prices for veterinary services and reduced competition." https://www.k9ofmine.com/vet-clinic-acquisition-by-private-equity-firms/
@skinnylatte We had both of our dogs pass in the last two years. Their care was recently getting much more expensive as they were getting older. Luckily we found a retired vet who did house calls part time. We are not in a hurry to get a new dog because the kenneling costs are as expensive as the trip we went on. It really doubled the cost of the trip.
@skinnylatte Vet bills have become very high. I overheard our neighbor telling one of their kids they couldn't have a dog because the vet bills would be too high. 😬
@lin11c let us all contact our banks: "I heard someone say Trump is getting rid of deposit insurance. How can I remove my money from the bank?". @palin
