@markmason @MarkHoltom The best service is a universal service. In the same way, as Finland does not allow private education, so has the best education in the world, Canada does not allow private healthcare.

When everybody has to use it, politicians vote to spend money on it, because they can’t escape. That is the future.

Don’t forget, the government is subsidising fossil fuels, not renewables. That’s why we’re paying more for electricity than gas or oil.

@evan I was appalled to see how many people answered yes until I realised a lot would be American. 

“On October 24 1975, the woman of Iceland went on strike for equal rights.

90% of women walked off their jobs and out of their homes, shutting down the country.
The men could barely cope.

The next year parliament passed a law guaranteeing equal pay. Five years later, Iceland elected the worlds, first #woman president.

Now, #Iceland has the highest gender equality in the world .

Quite simply, probably the most evocative #war memorial I have seen.
