I know all that but, as a disinterested Brit, can you tell me what any of the policies of either candidate are?
All I got from the head-to-head was a slanging match with neither of them saying what โtheyโ would do. I may have missed those bits but it seems to be a trend in politics these days where the opposing parties just have a go at each other without telling us what โtheyโ would do.
The year is 3129. Humanity is extinct. The last LG SmartFridge is desperately emailing its last owner that they are low on orange juice. The satellites still left, their orbits decaying, dutifully relay the message. The automated "away from office" response turns on, as it always does, notifying the refrigerator that it's owner will likely return to the office in 3-5 business days. A pack of roombas, the local wind turbines giving out, search for the next functional docking station. A washing machine tweets: "anyone need to do a loadโ every Saturday at 1:30 a.m. eastern standard time. The replies are filled with Al thirstposters and their hypebots. In North America, raccoons have entered the bronze age, while babboons riding domesticated battlewolves rule most of Asia. Unbeknownst to either, the octopi are mastering nuclear fusion.
The buildings are still there but their use has changed many times over the years, mainly because a new set of shops were built to the left of the picture.
It has changed so much in the 50+ years since I left. It was a proper village when I first lived there in the early โ60s but changed so much even whilst I grew up there.
The first picture shows the original pub and the second one shows the rebuilt pub.
The white building on the right was the fish & chip shop (recently opened after being the newsagentโs). To the left of that is the Post Office and then the pharmacy with the off-license next to that. Then there is the recently opened Co-op which moved from about half a mile away.
If I tell you I was a teen in the late โ60s/early โ70s you might get some sense of how old I am, that and dipping into my granโs tin of Cadburyโs Lucky Numbers ๐๐๐
In my teens and twenties my friend and I would come out the local pub, pick up a Chinese takeaway from the local Chinese takeaway (always chicken curry and rice) and sit in the local war memorial and just talk for hours about stuff and nonsense and not remember any of it the following morning. Needless to say we had the same conversations over and over. ๐๐
Surprisingly (or not) they are very good swimmers. One of the dressage routines at the Olympics consisted of the horses showing off their backstroke prowess. Unfortunately they stopped it after the drowning of 6 riders in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris (Gay Paree as it was known back then). The 6 riders were disqualified after failing to don the regulation sub aqua equipment (an 8ft length of rubber hose).
A small intro: Iโm someone of no importance.โจIโm not frightened of dying.
