Prelapse The licenses for most software are designed to take away your freedom to expose it to as many people as you can. I am doing it, cause in legalese it says that it forces you to do something, while CC0 is just the equivalent of saying "do what you want" for people who live in ass-backwards places without a concept of public domain. I'd just as soon throw the legal stuff in the trash, but it's a courtesy for those aformentioned people, and I don't have to think about it afterward: no one from bumfucktown is gonna try and force their broken laws on me, nor does anyone have to care if someone wrote my name on something. -

That's what I mean by performative, it's fine to give credit but it turns it from a courtesy into a legal song and dance, for something that makes no actual difference. Oh it's my legal duty to attach a notice to this 10 line shell script, like who cares? I'd rather just have nothing on it, but that's my preference. -

@p @w0rm I was up talking to my buddy about it and he was saying the reason there wasn't another one like MGS2 is cause its speculation was too on the nose so TPTB had to pull the right strings so it wouldn't happen again. Don't know if it's credible but it's a fun theory and appropriately meta enough. -

9front supports a fair bit more than that FWIW. You can run it on modern multi-core systems just fine, I think a bottleneck if we're talking peak performance might be that the system in general isn't aggressively optimized for speciality hardware, but if you dumped money into a custom kernel and upgrading the compiler I think you could close that gap. -
