Yeah, this has been my experince pretty much always some bullshit but nice when it works. Maybe if I paid for 500 H100s to run a half way decent model locally, or gave Dario Acuckei money monthly I could vibe code my way out of that hell and it would be fine -

NixOS can be like Gentoo in theory since it's source based, but uses a binary cache, but I ran into a shit ton of issues seems like a untested usecase sadly. I need my 1% performance uplift from using modern CPU instructions grrr -
