    I heard rumbling first, then felt 2-3 seconds of shaking. After that I wasn't sure whether I was feeling much weaker shaking or phantom shaking.

    No damage here.

    This one was near San Bernardino instead of Lytle Creek.

    @disarray I've never tried, but I suspect your biggest hurdle will be TSA inspection. Those $9/hour crotch gropers aren't expected to know anything about expensive electronics, so they may just decide it is suspicious and put you in the interrogation room.

    @pluralistic Until some anti-competitive corporation screams to their paid-off congressionals and Congress forces the FTC to back off.

    In all honesty, if we want corporations kept in check, we have to depend on the New York State Attorney General's office. They do more than all the federal agencies and 48 of the 50 states combined.

    @freakazoid @emacsen @clacke Part of the issue with corporations is that they have an unchecked survival instinct and an unchecked growth instinct, but none of the self-sacrifice, compassion, concern, caring that real beings (human and otherwise) have.

    I honestly think one of the best things we could do is cap their lifespans and their size and require dissolution of assets when EOL occurs.

    Ok the option to turn it off is tucked away under Privacy -> Advanced but it warns you that you might experience painful side-effects if you turn it on.

    So Social Security isn't a social program because we pay into it? Will it suddenly become a social program in 20-30 years when the "fund" is empty and benefits are paid directly from the general fund?

    I think I want a DSLR. Entry level, not too expensive, some decent lenses. Cable that plugs into USB-A (my laptops are too old for USB-C ... upgrading is also on my list). Should be able to pull images from it with Devuan & Ubuntu, as I'm not planning to keep a Windows machine forever.

    Time to do some research.

    I don't know how to pronounce Evangelion (e-VAN-gel LI-on? E-van-GEL-eyon?), and I didn't know what anime was when I watched two or three hours of Dragonball Z with a nephew one night.

    It was just a long fight. I lacked context to know who was fighting or why.
