@clacke@stux@janvenetor i don't know what other people took from it, but I say if you aren't playing Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It" 24/7 egging you on to deploy your code, are you really living?
@strypey@clacke you can see in OP that I mention Japan but I am not exactly sure how that is going to work out. I am hoping we can get a lot of help from the Canadian expats I know living there but idk if they will be game and they live in southern Japan so that will be much harder than doing it in an big city, at least in some regards. in any case, if we did the joint meet-up thing maybe Hong Kong would be an option. part of the problem is I have never been to those places so no real sense
@strypey I have a vision of bringing #ccmusic events to every region of the world. I have a tentative timeline of doing events in Central US in 2025 and 2026. then in some order I'd like to do #japan#france and western #canada before maybe returning to the US on the west coast. point being, there is some time to learn how to make this work.
I guess I'm wondering if maybe you'd be interested in being involved in something in New Zealand (or possibly Australia)
@strypey one thing that might be useful to do is to find partners in various locations and have a joint event. Like, we could do a #fediverse and #ccmusic meetup. I mean, maybe this is the exact framework to take everywhere and we expose non-fediverse cc folks to the pluses of not fighting algorithms and we expose fediverse folks to the bonuses of extricating themselves from corporate music. @wjmaggos seems like an idea you might like.
@nonlinear@strypey don't know yet. my suspicion is it would be two short overnights but it depends on when we can get flights to Vietnam.
it's also possible we'll come independent of Vietnam but I suspect that won't be until after the trip to Vietnam. should know more after we visit the in-laws in a couple weeks
I wonder how they are counting that Germany was third largest after France and GB. eyeballing I'd assume Russia, China, and US were all bigger. I guess those aren't "colonial" because they are contiguous?
@clacke@strypey vaguely related to the thread. We have a local indigenous chef that his food truck was called the Sioux Chef. He's been on Top Chef now and is... more famous than I am. in any case, at first it was all local stuff but honestly it wasn't that great but now they have expanded to indigenous foods from... I think basically the Americas and New Zealand but I know they had Maori wines of some sort on their wine list
