The lack of snow this year has actually made things super easy in comparison to normal. It snowed some this afternoon, but roads still look very clean to me.
@adammoe2022 the only way to get the cultists to do anything appears to be the economy. Not sure a traditional protest is any good. They will just watch with glee as people get teargassed. If however, you can do anything to stop the economy, that might help: Don't work as hard. Absolutely do not spend any unnecessary money and absolutely do not spend any money that is not kept locally.
There are other things one could do, but I am not going to advocate for them but you can use your imagination.
@clacke it's really not worth the stress on your fingers to refute what he said. I don't know or care who said it, but I feel pretty confident it's a he. I have two in mind. Don't let them live rent free in your head.
Are there any #freesoftware / #opensource projects that have some easy wins if they just had a little extra time? I have a lot of leeway with how I spend my work time (well, it varies wildly week to week, but most afternoons I do have a little time).
I'll have to think strategically about my skillset and the needs of my customers, but I'm not going to limit the type of project folks can reply about in any way, because someone else might want to help out in that way.
@notclacke I want to know who the "somewhat full" people are (not the individuals, the cultures). My initial thought was that it struck me as somewhat Japanese but then they are a drink the ramen broth culture. I think the difference might be the etiquette of a ramen shop vs. home dinner.
i guess I just need to come to terms with the fact that me doing a shitty job running @friendsofccmusic is better than no one doing it... at least for now.
@rasterweb she's overqualified for the 101 talk, but @cwebber is a Milwaukee native. not sure what ties she still has to the area, but perhaps worth an invite
i had a dream last night which probably means I slept well because I rarely dream. in any case, Selena Gomez and I fell in love, wrote and recorded what was considered by many the greatest art pop album of all time. Some time after the album I got cancer and died. At some point too she was pregnant but not sure what happened to fetus. After my death, Selena wrote and recorded what was by many considered the greatest pop/emo/metal album of all time. Selena either ODs or commits suicide. unclear.
I've learned my lesson about saying 1 of 2...and I was right, this is going to end up being 3...
since sessions are recorded, I don't see a lot of problem using meet.jit.si, but we could pick a different server: https://ladatano.partidopirata.com.ar/jitsimeter/ -- I do wonder if the "No Tracking" ones allow streaming via YouTube though. For example, the suse server does not. I checked a few others and didn't see any that did.
theoretically, we could host our own, but not sure that makes sense at our current scale.
I've got on my calendar 6:30pm US Central to work on #fccm / #ccmusic / #netlablel stuff. Mostly depending on my wife's schedule, but also my own on-call schedule and bike race schedule I won't literally be able to make that time every day.
Still, if it would be useful/interesting for folks, I could hold office hours then on jitsi and record the sessions
Could be a way for us to more rapidly iterate on various projects.
It's important that #ccmusic people come to as much of this as possible if for no other reason than to help us figure out if we want to do something like this yearly, and if so, how to improve it.
Website talk & Live Shows talk are locked in to their time, but any of the other times can be moved...although ideally not since some of the docs have the times listed. Still, lmk if you would like to be at a specific talk but time is bad.
@Nomys_Tempar accepted to what? The event on Jan 25 is a discussion about building an organization. There will be no music submissions that day. What I hope happens is that a musician steps up to help build that fork of the organization and build tools that will help all musicians. @Cheesetruck has talked about there being some sort of monthly #netlabel show, but right now there is nothing set in stone about that. Right now that is scheduled for the 3rd slot on the day if u want to get involved
@dlikdh@Nomys_Tempar@Cheesetruck "libre" is not a great word to use since NC and ND licenses are not libre. even if we accept @wiloma's definition that anyone that releases music is a #netlabel that is not clean as that would include a bunch of all rights reserved stuff.
There is "some rights reserved" but too long for a hashtag. #srrmusic only adds a character. We could see if we could get it to catch on.
Although it's still not precise as there are things like public domain declarations
I'm not a particularly hard person to find online. I'm on Diaspora (maybe haven't logged in in a while), pump.io (maybe haven't logged in in a while), soundcloud, libre.fm, last.fm, ccMixter, and tons of other places. My dog's name is T'Challa. He is joined a family of cats, is black (mostly), and is African (not completely, he's a mutt). One of the owners of blocsonic.comLead shenaniganizer at @jjj and @friendsofccmusic
