@triodug @Moon I think that I left twitter at a good time. The twitter before they really suppressed things had better reach than fedi. And I wasn't promoting anything. My timeline here rarely explodes. I don't think that I'm using social media much different compared to way back except that I can type more in one post rather than splitting them across so many posts. You still had to put yourself out there and find your niche community, but once you followed enough people and they followed you back, if you followed a hashtag, then it worked out.

No. Believe it or not, I have preference standards. Flaunting your goods or assets in front of me will not overcome this. I don't go around looking to find everyone I meet attractive and I'm happy if you aren't trying to draw attention to those things.

It has been a while since we've had a fun themed shitposting event too. Could organise something like that, and people may be encouraged to join if moon posts about it and gets involved. He has a greater reach for it to kick off.

Upnor Castle is an Elizabethan artillery fort located on the west bank of the River Medway in Kent.
The fort was intended to protect both the dockyard and ships of the Royal Navy anchored in the Medway. It was constructed between 1559 and 1567 on the orders of Elizabeth I, during a period of tension with Spain and other European powers. The castle consists of a two-storeyed main building protected by a curtain wall and towers, with a triangular gun platform projecting into the river. It was garrisoned by about 80 men with a peak armament of around 20 cannon of various calibres.

Sutton Valence Castle was probably built in the second half of the 12th century by the Counts of Aumale, most likely by Baldwin of Bethune, but perhaps by William le Gros, Baldwin's father-in-law.
The castle was built on a commanding position overlooking the strategic route between the towns of Maidstone, Rye and Old Winchelsea and the location was also known as Sudtone and Town Sutton.
It then passed to the families of Marshal and de Montfort, before being given by King Henry III to his half-brother William de Valence in 1265, from whom the castle takes its current name. It was abandoned in the early 14th century and fell into ruin.

@tk Even without that, we need complicated systems in place to cater to a larger populace. To transport goods and feed the cities, to feed people that have outsourced that labour to others. Rural life is likely slower paced and simpler, working with the land itself. Cities and corporatism seem to encourage a faster pace.

@augustus It wasn't ideal. There was corruption so it would be good to improve that. But otherwise, I agree that it isn't worth starting a world war over this. Better for them to remain neutral, not join the EU or NATO. If anything, they should form a smaller defence union with other Eastern European nations to prevent the nightmare of another soviet union. They could be a third party rather than all the power going to either Russia or the US.

@tk We often let distractions and escapism distract us from the important personal growth we need. If we have any downtime, then we have time to put in the work for our growth even if it is only half an hour a day. But it can be exhausting to do so it is easier to avoid it.

@icedquinn Perhaps I should read that book and look into mneumonics. I did wonder about anki... but yeah, I'm not great at repeating things. So that would likely wear out fast. I'm surprised I remember anything that I did in that regard.
