Sexy Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 04:01:00 JST Sexy Moon I don't know how to articulate it but the Fediverse does have limitations for self-promotion compared to e.g. Twitter. I need to sit down sometime and think through how to articulate it clearly. -

cool_boy_mew (coolboymew@shitposter.club)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 04:11:43 JST cool_boy_mew @Moon Hmm? I mean, it's pretty obvious that reaches are limited, the platform isn't built for that (also no ads), it's fragmented and everyone here is pretty savvy, you can't promote bullshit easily Sexy Moon likes this. -

Sexy Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 04:12:03 JST Sexy Moon @coolboymew yeah I mean I want to get down into the details on how the design doesn't work for creators. -

triodug (triodug@fedi.triodug.com)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 04:17:08 JST triodug @Moon tbh I get more interactions from Fedi than on Twitter when it comes to promotion. Twitter has a lot of gay ass retard rules that suppress your posts reach if you don't perform some arbitrary pagan ritual beforehand. Sexy Moon repeated this. -

cool_boy_mew (coolboymew@shitposter.club)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 04:19:41 JST cool_boy_mew @Moon The thing is, unless you're big, or paying, Twitter ain't all that any better unless your thing is actually popular art
If you have actual products to sell, that's gonna be tough luck on Twittertriodug likes this. -

Weeble (weeble@bungle.online)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 04:25:01 JST Weeble @coolboymew@shitposter.club @Moon@shitposter.club How far your promo reaches is dependent on how well your instance is federates.
Which isn't an automatic thing so you have to constantly be following new people and keep up with new and dying instances. Many instances wont see your entire account either and only a couple of posts that happen to federate after.
Adding the possibility of getting blocked also makes things complicated.
Even if you do happen to federate with or be on an instance with a million users, many instances don't have a working search so it'd be hard for ppl who WANT your content to find it.
All of these factors just compound on the fact that most ppl on fedi are tech nerds, political extremist, and coomers. Meaning they're on fedi cuz they don't like advertising or because it's not profitable to advertise to themSexy Moon likes this. -

™️¥ (tomey@shitposter.club)'s status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 06:46:58 JST ™️¥ @triodug @Moon I figured out that twitter was suppressing my posts because my username contained the letters NFT. I decided to change my username and saw that the impressions immediately shot up 2/3 times the amount. I dont really care but it was interesting to see. I guess it makes sense with the amount of scams constantly going on. triodug likes this. -

sim@shitposter.club's status on Friday, 15-Mar-2024 11:54:50 JST sim @triodug @Moon I think that I left twitter at a good time. The twitter before they really suppressed things had better reach than fedi. And I wasn't promoting anything. My timeline here rarely explodes. I don't think that I'm using social media much different compared to way back except that I can type more in one post rather than splitting them across so many posts. You still had to put yourself out there and find your niche community, but once you followed enough people and they followed you back, if you followed a hashtag, then it worked out. triodug likes this.
