@heidilifeldman I think in a lot of ways, that's what today was about. Helping so many of us understand that we are not alone. We are the majority.

@WarnerCrocker while this is 100% an indication of the continued erosion of norms, this provision in and of itself doesn't really matter.

If the rule of law still exists, this is a blatant violation of the separation of powers and courts can clearly just ignore it.

Since the rule of law doesn't exist, courts will not find the administration in contempt anyway, or at least the administration would ignore it.

@sun first of all, you said probably.

Second of all, you turned that "probably" into "nobody has cared for my entire lifetime."

Third, it seems impossible that you actually think that these two things, which are superficially similar except that one is 10,000 times larger, are equivalent.

@mattblaze so in all seriousness, I respect your writing, but I feel like you have not been paying a lot of attention over the last few years.

We are living in a post-constitutional america. Nobody cares that what musk is doing is blatantly unconstitutional.

Sorry, let me be a bit more accurate. Nobody with any political power cares.

@goatsarah America works the same way! There's very little bribery, because the Supreme Court has chosen to define bribery as "handing an official a cartoon bag with a dollar sign on it full of money, and then they immediately carry out an official act."

Wait five minutes before the official act? Bag doesn't have a dollar sign on it? Not bribery!

@evan @textualdeviance @augieray So based on that... "We survived as a country"...

You are willing to assume that Trump's not going to start any wars.

    That's...

    Interesting.

Meanwhile, I and every other Jew I know are making plans to flee the country, so I certainly hope that your assumption that Trump won't start any wars, based - as it is - on absolute nothing, is correct.

@seb321 @augieray @evan so, given the exact circumstances you are describing, you would vote for the person who has explicitly advocated genocide over the person who is merely doing an insufficient amount to stop it?

Or alternately, you would stay at home, not willing to vote for the person who has done an insufficient amount to stop it, knowing that meant increasing the likelihood that the person who explicitly advocated genocide would get into power.

That doesn't make sense to me.

@evan @augieray please provide the tiniest bit of evidence that Biden is ignoring the position of his constituents.

This is a straw man, you know it's a straw man, but you're putting it out there nevertheless.

@benroyce @sickmatter I may be 100% United with someone in disgust for what the government of Israel is doing, but if they are expressing it by shrieking about zionists, we are not on the same side.
