@hugh@philpem there's @libreleah 's UK based thinkpad-with-a-brain-transplant offering: https://minifree.org/ - I'd have one myself but there's a libreboot/nixos issue pending a fix (so I'm limping along with my ancient starlight for now) - and @mntmn 's mnt reform looks fun too!
@b0rk@cwebber i've yet to see a good description of WHAT bsky did to ban somebody on blacksky? A good number of people used to say that was impossible, who were surprised. Was it some obscure technical aspect of the protocol? Can people on blacksky not still see the blocked stuff, or has bsky somehow managed to block it there? What ACTUALLY happened?
@whitequark@dpk you could make a server side processing engine with a very limited sandbox, that's *just useful enough*; deciding the exact boundary would be a fun challenge though...
There's six of 'em snuggled under the straw there, although they're mainly covered up... Fur has grown but their eyes aren't open yet. They mainly just lie there, curled up, but we've checked and they do occasionally move.
Soooo I was feeding the rabbit we adopted (found roaming the countryside, but clearly domestic) - she hops out of her hutch onto my lap to be hand-fed pellets each evening - and there was MOVEMENT inside the hutch...
Six little versions of her have appeared. Perhaps 5 days old. All alive!
I had a heart attack though. Had to call @Saffy in to see what it was, as I had my hands full and was thoroughly freaked out... I figured it was either babies, or a mouse or rat or something had snuck in...
Aaand growing. Roaming around their enclosure, starting to nibble hay. Mum is starting to get annoyed with them chasing her for milk, so we've set it up so she can jump up away from them, and giving her plenty of time out of the enclosure eating the lawn.
They've reached the age we're supposed to start interacting with them and getting them used to human handling. Seems they like curling up in my pockets! As they're routinely leaving the nest now, we think it's safe to move them to more appropriate accommodation (the current setup is just what we'd cobbled together at short notice to rescue their mum...), so a proper hutch is on order to be delivered tomorrow.
@graymattergrcltd@lemgandi@paraplegic_racehorse@Moosjazz@pluralistic Many years ago I saw a video of a bagpiper (IIRC in full kilt garb) following a racist streat preacher, drowning their ranting out. The sight of this irritated nazi trying to shout over the pipes, trying to get away, with the piper scurrying after then while still piping away, was hilarious!
@cinebox@quinn the sad thing is, all the normal day to day death and misery caused by the state of the world is boring and routine. People get excited about the few that are weird and unusual in some way...
@mekkaokereke the thing about the "marketplace of ideas" argument is that it's only a marketplace if people play by the rules. That's how a marketplace works. People can only claim to participate in the "marketplace of ideas" if they actually debate in good faith, and other participants are welcome to protect the marketplace by shunning them, just like fraudsters and theives being kicked out of a commercial marketplace.
