@bmacDonald94 I guess they found out 😃 (and to be fair, I was already chuckling because I misread that as 'I had a furry of follows' and I thought how many follows is a furry? 😆
Having my dental plan cancelled because the Federal Government made a rule about ACA covering "Gender Affirming Care" was not on my bingo card, but here we are.
I think more and more people see the problems without any obvious solutions and they realize that the guys running these companies (it's always guys) don't have solutions either.
I'm thinking I should vibe code 'tu AI es mi AI' which is a crawler that finds chat agents it can exploit token usage out of. "I got a 150 agents running and its freeeeee!"
@prettygood So you're saying you come by it honestly.
One of the more cathartic moments in the dot com crash was when the MBAs got all sad and moved to NYC to do finance because they had lost their ability to exploit retail investors with made up "internet technology" based companies. That was good. Sadly this round services much darker forces.
I don't disagree with this, but how about calling eval() on a non-empty and innocuous string? Said string being only one or two regexes away from being not innocuous? How about your web service's json parameter list which when 'touched' by the magic regex has more parameters in it than you thought? People don't sanitize the strings that their own code sends them, and perhaps that is unwise.
Let's say that 30% of Microsoft's new code each year is written by AI. Using simple differential equations we can deduce that all of Microsoft's code base will be written by AI within the next 5 years thus no longer copyrightable. Meaning that the DMCA no longer applies to Windows in 2030 or so.
@neil If you're British I read that as "would you like to go out for lunch or coffee at some point." If you're American I read it as "We should celebrate with a fancy lunch or a fancy coffee break sometime in the future."
But it is confusing without hearing the accent which way to translate it.
@ai6yr Would likely get a reading from the kitchen countertop. Another acquaintance I know built one (on my recommendation) and backgroun radiation in their house was way higher than it should be. Turns out they had sealed all of the vents to their house foundation, "To keep out rats", and started collecting Radon instead.
@GottaLaff This is wonderful news. And yes, people whine about SCOTUS, and yet. Having the record state that this was unlawful is huge. And the more the Robert’s court caves, the larger indictment on THEM. The easier it is to see justice later. My biggest hope is that us living through this nightmare and documenting it will ensure future generations will now be cowed with “you’re over reacting.” and will instead act with will and purpose to stop it from happening again.
I was at Sun (but not in the Windows group) during the first Windows wars, NeWS was Sun's attempt to 'start from scratch'. When Canonical jumped on the Wayland bandwagon I had hoped we could see a better outcome but too many of its developers looked up to the Win32 API. A small minority of programmers today understand *why* X11 is the way it is. I believe that contributes to them breaking things when they try to reinvent it.
@steter@harrymccracken This is where having the instructions in the native language of the person making the sign and then using a translation app on your phone actually works a bit better. At least a bit more consistently.
@harrymccracken lol. I get "verify that you're iphone does magnetic charging" and "remove the case so that there is small enough distance between the phone and this charger to charge it." But yeah, it's cryptic indeed.
@whitequark Oh that is super awesome! I noticed that Sigrok was falling down here and put my QSPI gateware project back on hold until I could do something like this. Procrastination paying off for me 😁
Engineer equivalent of a Rōnin. I am no longer bound to any one master and free to use my skills to help the poor and slay the rich.Father, Roboticist, Radio Amateur, Pun enthusiast, and an odd sense of humor. AI Slop avatar on purpose to poison scrapers who use name/face pairs to train facial recognition databases. I look "kind" of like that.
