@AnthonyJK @hrefna yeah I have plenty of problems I've had with TBS and over time most of them have proven to be lies that people told me. At that point it's like... If there are so many things wrong with it, why resort to making shit up? The debunked lies have ended up making me trust it more in the long run because why lie if you can get your point across with the truth?

@starshine yeah considering Tumblr DMs were being used against trans women on Tumblr and that's a part of this whole thing... Our DMs here are no less private than any social media site. In fact, I'd say they're better because only our 1-10 admins can see them, instead of a whole company's worth of moderation people and whatever corporations they sell our data to

@blogdiva as tired as I am of Dems demanding that I vote blue no matter who, I think it would be way more bearable if the same people showed any political goal other than playing keepaway. If I could count on them to criticize officials, I'd be more confident in voting Dem... but every time I criticize any Democrat politician, even if I say I plan to vote for them anyway, they come for me 🙃

@bhasic @TheBird everything people do to hurt us hurts a little more when it's hypocritical. It's not hypocritical for centrists and right-wingers to support eugenics because they'll just say it, mask off. Leftists, on the other hand, pretend to care about other people and pretend to be more pro-human-rights than others. Those mentioned keep a mask on, but not the one that could save lives

@tillshadeisgone lately I've also seen all topics surrounding Palestine being censored (unless they're pro-Israel in which case the algorithm lets them be). Hamas as hummus, using the watermelon emoji to show support for Palestine without being censored, etc. Like not only are they encouraging self-censorship on all topics relating to death or sex, but they fully pick sides

@AnthonyJK like, I know Hamas is queerphobic, and why the fuck should that make me not care about Palestinian civilians? If Israel managed to kill all of Hamas without harming a single civilian I'd be like "well that was harsh" but I wouldn't be 24/7 angry and sad about it like I am. Because that's not what's happening, that's not their goal. How am I supposed to lose empathy for innocent people over someone else's crimes? People still cared abt me when Trump was president 🤷

one of my biggest anxieties when writing scientific papers etc is knowing what I need to find citations for out of the stuff that I simply know. because it's okay not to if it's "common knowledge," but once someone is in academia for a while it's hard to tell what counts.
so hear me out: website where academics submit facts and ppl who aren't in that field of study tell them if that counts as common knowledge. writers get to know if they need to find sources, and voters get to learn tidbits?

@theauracle it angers me so much especially when they use that as justification for genocide... So, in order to prevent queer Palestinians from being killed for being queer, you want to kill them for being Palestinian? How will that help them whatsoever?

@RickiTarr I think the people you would consider "psychopaths" are here for a reason. Not because society needs them, but because the backwards antisocial society we're in produces them. Right now, not caring about other people has evolutionary advantages because it's the easiest way to survive under capitalism. Those without this trait force themselves to acquire it in order to survive.
On an individual level, yes, I think current evolution dictates "psychopathy"

If you want disabled people to switch to the thing you use, make it accessible yourself. Don't put the onus on us
(And I'm gonna do my best to contribute to the accessibility of Linux etc but yk, I'm just one person and my ADHD prohibits me from ever finishing a project lol)

@ryanhoulihan when I'm facing healthcare and social services discrimination in the state of California, it is not, in fact, a relief to be reminded that this is pretty much the best I can get

On Tumblr or Twitter (pre-Elon) the choices were p much "let ignorant assholes interact with you" or "limit your social circle to people who think you deserve rights and now it's all the impoverished marginalized people passing back and forth the same 10 dollars" and neither got much

Offense at being called different is assimilationism, which never works. The only way to assimilate into cisheteropatriarchy is to be cishet and obey gender roles. Otherwise fascists *will* hate you no matter what you do.
