@imp3tuz 100% agreed. I think this place had a chance to catch a lot more of the twitter exodus, but the majority of the white userbase does not want Black folks here, and prefers their quieter and whiter space.
These types of people were consistently hostile to early Black adopters and are still hostile to us now.
And when these threads come along everyone wants to know what can be done to help make this place safer for Black folks, but then when given the choice between risking their social capital to stand up for Black folks and reject white supremacy when white supremacy is very popular, most either opt for silence or minimizing/dismissing our issues as "interpersonal drama" to soothe their conscience.
A vanishing few folks are actually willing to put in the work, and a lot of them have been successfully bullied off the platform by the overt racists who don't want Black folks protected.
So as a result there's barely any of us here. We have our little niches and communities here and there, and like you I think that's worth staying for. But it gets exhausting sometimes fr
