@tinker My local repair café often has a lot of demand for lamp repair, too.
Honestly, I've been doing repair cafés since last summer and it's a ton of fun. Great, low-pressure chance to engage the problem-solving bits of my brain.

@skinnylatte Yup, the US contrast: I jokingly describe myself as living in "Almost-Canada-Land". I am 100 miles from the nearest crossing.
I'm going to drive to visit some family in a few weeks. I will cover ~1500 miles (~2400km) over three days. I will not cross any borders. That's only one way.
@maxleibman If "device hoarding" is bad, imagine how immoral "money hoarding" must be! I'm sure there's a Washington Post or NYT editorial about how utterly repugnant it is to hold onto unimaginable piles of wealth when other humans are cold and hungry.
@thomasfuchs Even that's just a less-efficient method than building a generator from random tables.
Like, you're not wrong. But even that's a weak solution.
@thomasfuchs Option 3 (Dark): The people who lost the helmet lottery can't post on here to tell you how important wearing a helmet is.
@tinker I've got a hard rule where I will not pay for ads. If there are ads, I'm not paying.
Of course, there's no sin in infringing the copyright of fascists or their collaborators.
@thomasfuchs Assuming you started with Season 1, it's actually downhill from there.
Yes, really.
@skinnylatte That certainly sounds like a unique flavor profile. I'll take a peek next time I get across town to our TJ.
I meant more broadly, like cultures (even small pockets) that were just like "we got a ton of mint and need to do something with it".
I really want the other end of the "you will taste this spicy thing all the way through your asshole" spectrum. Face-fuck me with an icicle.
@skinnylatte To shift the subject slightly, is there any cuisine that goes completely overboard with peppermint?
@skinnylatte With you on injustice.
I'd be fat and happy if someone brought me donuts every morning.
And I have a surprisingly high Teams-tolerance 🤷🏻♂️
@skinnylatte How.
How can you do this.
How can you put all these words in a post.
And NOT include Che Guava?
@thomasfuchs It really is amazing how allowing a monopoly on browsers(/engines) creates so much damage.
Love how they're hiding relevant and germane comments calling The Goog out on their poor stewardship and active efforts to strangle XSLT as "off-topic".
@malwaretech "All your other friends are jumping off a bridge, child. Why haven't you? Aren't you cool?"
@georgetakei George I would rather wake up every morning and shit myself on stage. Staring into the eyes of an audience member.
@tillshadeisgone A good start?
@0xabad1dea Can confirm: Am in New York, and it hasn't been 7:14 pm for at least five hours.
@andypiper Thanks for the reminder that @glitchdotcom is ending services. Not sure why there's nothing about it on the Glitch fedi account. CC: @anildash

@selzero I won't actually stop buying coffee for 25 days, but I will match whatever I spend to your legal fund for the "homicide in self defense" charges.
@skinnylatte If you live in rental without any kind of charging, EVs only really make sense if you can charge at your workplace.
If you have a short/no commute, 120v (standard household outlet) charging can make sense.
The hope was apartment/rentals would be required to provide some method of charging, but that went out the window last November.
