@ryanc Relatedly, I made a rule for my company that all our private PKI certificates are valid for 12 hours before they're requested in case someone has done something spectacularly "interesting" with timezones.

@skinnylatte If you live in rental without any kind of charging, EVs only really make sense if you can charge at your workplace.

If you have a short/no commute, 120v (standard household outlet) charging can make sense.

The hope was apartment/rentals would be required to provide some method of charging, but that went out the window last November.

@sophieschmieg If LLMs are snake oil, this "AI RNG" is meta-snake oil. It's like expecting a homeopathy distillation of horse dewormer will cure Covid.

It's so obviously fake that I can't even find a good metaphor to explain how bad it is.

@ariadne If you're in the US and it's not related to fraud or evading some form of justice, the only things stopping you are money (specifically, its absence and related court filing fees) and your tolerances for filling out forms and repeating "Yes, lower case 'R', two 'B's."

    I'm all in favor.

@skinnylatte The flip side of that is "flavor maximalist" sounds kind of exhausting. Like only listening to music at max volume.

Sometimes you just want some background music.

@skinnylatte Nah, I get it. Sometimes you don't want to think about flavors and how they interact and what it'll do to the rest of your day. You want to just not be hungry or consume the sustenance your meat-prison requires.

@evan I'm not in a public-facing role, and wouldn't really want to be. If there was a stronger business/vendor presence in the fediverse, I might use it a little for strictly professional things.

If you mean for internal-only stuff, probably somewhat. That would overlap (and improve upon) some of the things we use Teams for right now.

@lorenipsum Honestly, it would probably only take a few instances of people publicly doing it and gamifying it during their talks to catch on.

"And we all understand how critical little pieces are... Yup, that XKCD comic. I used it, so I'm going to donate $10 to $SomeProjectIUseOften. Everyone in the audience, I encourage you to do the same. CC $CustomEmailAddress your receipt, and we'll share the results at the end of the talk!"

@mekkaokereke That immediately brought to mind related two blogs: [Being Glue by Tanya Reilly]((https://www.noidea.dog/glue) and (more tangentially) On Rake Collections and Software Engineering by FlameEyes.

And yea, knowing where all the bodies are buried is valuable, and folks that can quickly put together those random, unconnected puzzle pieces have honed an exceptionally-useful skill.

@AnarchoNinaWrites They really shoulda gotten the message from the Michigan (I think) primary effort over Gaza. Instead they wanted to attract any last GOP voters with a shred of decency.
