   One of my more ridiculous unconscious beliefs is that if I bring a reusable shopping bag into a store, and it's printed with the logo of one of their direct competitors, the workers in that store are going to be mad at me. It's ok to bring a hardware store bag into a grocery store, since they don't directly compete, but bringing the bag of a different grocery store is a direct affront.

     @evan FWIW, Nike actively doesn't allow employees — or visitors — to wear competitors' products while on the property of their headquarters campus.

     @drsbaitso @evan Me too! I know it's stupid but I still try to use the store's own bags (or non-branded bags) where practical.

     @evan I have exactly the same hangup! But it's "okay" if I have at least one of the store's branded bags.

     The fact that in my country each holding company operates a dozen or so "competing" brands makes this all the more ridiculous.

     @evan for us, the best-constructed and cheapest available bags for a long time were LCBO bags, so our concern isn't for the competitive feelings of employees, but instead their judgment on our lushness when we bring 5 LCBO bags into the grocery store
