I stopped giving to my "local" public radio years ago in like 2019 when their antisocialist/anticommunist bias leaped out in the light of some state dem parties purging socialists (I'm not tryna doxx myself hence the vaguery)

One instance was specific, specific, blatant, and general, and the other was specific, and personal.

(They don't actually do local its one org with beats statewide, I suspect this isn't the only state with such a model)

@NoFlexZone Don't remember if it was NPR or the local affiliate, but back in the beginning of the Affordable Care Act, they very consistently only covered it by referring to "the disastrous rollout" of the website. Repeated that negative framing day after day. Then they moved on without covering how many more people could access insurance.
That's probably when I first noticed their conservative /corporate bias.

There are gonna be a lot of people telling you to give #NPR money there aren't going to be a lot of people reminding you how they've comported themselves over the last 20 years.

To be clear yall are gonna do wht you wanna do. But remember when they thought it would save them, they collaborated.

I used to listen to A LOT of public radio, I could tell time by what was on air. At one point I regularly contributed to 3 member stations. At times I gave directly to specific shows.

Or their abysmal coverage of the genocide in Palestine. Their naked platforming of genocidal maniac zionists, again in the interest of "view point neutrality" #NPR can kiss my blacc ass

Not to mention how they treated a bunch of their colonized hosts like shit to the point where most of them have left.

I'll recount one local NPR affiliate running a multipart series on "the future of US politics" in 2018 where one focused on "The future of Conservatism"

Where they had on two conservatives

Then they had one that was "What is socialism?"

Where they had a college professor. In a place where numerous socialist orgs operate, where one was actively contending for power in the State Dem party. #NPR wouldn't have a socialist on to actually talk about socialism on a show about socialism.

Yall can give money to collaborators if you want. Small dollar donations to the Democratic Party did nothing actually change their behavior

I'd say, if you have it to give, give it to someone who's struggling without healthcare and posting on here with a #MutualAid request

Because boy does #NPR never actually want you to know how a single payer system, or a system of socialized medicine could actually work They'll get reaaal close, they'll both sides it, but they won't do the thing.

#NPR serves as the leftmost outlet of acceptable US Colonial Propaganda. Its propaganda is better crafted and meant to keep people trapped in the Liberal MAGA framework of seeking "A More Perfect Union"

NPR will tell you straight up that the healthcare system in the US is "broken" but will always wiff on discourse of meaningful change

About those 'Credit Rolls' ever notice how at times healthcare/pharma companies are mentioned? didn't know who tf Novonordisk was till I was listening pub radio

HEY DOES ANYONE REMEMBER #NPR WEST? YALL REMEMBER Day to Day? They closed it down in 2008. Probably lost a lot of funding from "credit rolls".

"Credit rolls" are what NPR stations call it when they let people buy ads on their air. But they famously don't have ads, so they made up a new term for it.
