Hey so uh several of my mutuals keep boosting shit that compares *fascists* to *me* as a way of insulting *the fascists*. And I don't wanna just break off a bunch of mutual connections with no warning, but I also don't have the energy to DM them all and it seems desperately posting and boosting about not using ableism against fascists is not enough. Does anyone have advice? I can't handle seeing everyone who usually has good takes now using me as the worst thing they can compare a fascist to

Okay I think I'm just gonna pin this post so anyone who wonders why we're not moots anymore can see it:
If I unfollowed you, it was probably because you called prominent fascists mentally ill (or narcissists, psychopaths, insane, etc). As someone they all want dead, and as someone who is actually in the group you're assigning them to, this hurts. A lot. It feels like you're saying the only thing worse than a fascist is a disabled person. We're all sick of it, especially from so-called leftists.

LB it's especially important that we don't use that economic reasoning anymore because the current plan of the administration seems to be slavery. So why would they be convinced by "but the economy needs immigrants to do labor!" when they could just force immigrants to do that labor for free? People who want slave labor will not be convinced of the value of fairly paid labor. And we cannot fucking sit back and accept more slavery (or the amount of slavery currently happening)

@intransitivelie basically, if anyone says they want a revolution but they aren't also doing everything they can to prop up mutual aid and community resilience, they probably just want to commit some violence without feeling bad about it 🤷 but hey, we'll need our Mario Brothers too. We all have parts we can play in a better future. But violence alone won't actually ease the suffering of the marginalized or of the working class

@intransitivelie I think I genuinely do want a revolution but not in the way that people probably assume if I just say "I want a revolution."
I want to put something better up *before* tearing these shitty systems down. That's a lot of work, WAY more work than killing billionaires etc, and a lot of people don't seem too enthused. But if all we do is the violent part without helping wean people's dependence on capitalism, all that makes is even more suffering :/

@lauren @mastodonmigration @heliomass if there's a notice of "this was a quote post but the original author pulled out" it's not *mis*information, just a *lack* of information. No one is entitled to the information in my posts. So if someone does a quote post and the original quoted post isn't in it, you can just scroll and accept that you don't have all the information! Everyone knowing the context of every post is NOT more important than safety.

@lauren @mastodonmigration @heliomass if someone is harassing me, I frankly don't care what information you can see. It will not kill you not to see my post. What do you do when people block you, cry to their admins that you don't have all the information so you need them to undo it?

There is no way that seeing a quote post missing a quote is all that dangerous. If you don't have all the info, just scroll

@lauren as long as there's an indication that it was once a quote post, I cannot overstate how easy it is to go "damn, no context, guess I don't get to know"

@lauren if people are inclined to see a post and run with it without context (and you're right, they are), then we absolutely should not be forcing people to keep our posts in someone else's thread without context. If them not seeing my post will lead to them jumping to conclusions, them seeing my out-of-context post will lead to a dogpile of harassment. I will die on the hill that we should try to avoid dogpiles and harassment. Why are you so insistent that we shouldn't?

As someone who actually has NPD, I'd like to beg people to STOP armchair diagnosing every fucking Nazi with it. Please. You're not hurting them, you're only hurting us. Actually, you're only hurting those of us who are self aware and care enough to try to be a better person. Armchair diagnosing or comparing bad people with disabilities bounces off of them and just hurts disabled people. Please stop. Same goes for body shaming Nazis. We can be better than them.

Clipping fascists out of context to try to make them somehow look even worse is not going to help in the fight against him, and aren't the things he's actually done/said fucking Bad Enough??? Let's stick with the truth instead of doing the exact same shit ppl do to make us look bad

If I had an old account on a server that's been deleted for like 2 years now, how likely is it that those posts are still floating around somewhere in another server's cache? If I delete posts from this account, how long are they likely to stay in other servers' caches? I frankly have no idea how any of this works I'm just spitting out buzz words from other posts I've seen

@magicalgrrrl we are all so accustomed to attack instead of build solidarity, that when someone does anything wrong most people (on the left, fedi, etc) react by cutting them out and cursing their every action. Which is what he was doing about her and now it's what a bunch of white queer people are doing about him. My autism hates double standards so it's infuriating to watch people call each other irredeemable for harassment and bad faith interpretations and then engaging in it all too

@magicalgrrrl yeah and that's also fucked up. I understand disliking her but willingly misgendering or deadnaming a trans person is never okay, even if she had personally provoked him and as far as I can tell this was at stuff long past
I guess I just hate that when someone does anything genuinely messed up, people will find issue with everything else they do and it becomes difficult to wade through that for the things they actually need to be held accountable for

@rybson @HauntedOwlbear one of the anarchist ones sent me a follow request and I accepted it at first, but I didn't follow back. But then it kept popping up in my follow requests a few times until I blocked or rejected a request. I think they were mass following leftists and then going through their follows to re-follow if they don't follow back. Like, pay attention to me, I'm in your notifications again!

@skinnylatte @ideogram I can't tell if this is a disagreement or an addition but for the record, I'm not trying to say America is the worst. More that, despite how horrible it is here, it's kinda horrible everywhere. Often as a result of US imperialism, or European imperialism.
I maintain that a lot of immigrants were lied to about the American Dream. How it goes is going to heavily depend on race, education, and connections, but is it really that great for the average person?

@ideogram @skinnylatte what you have to remember is that every problem in the US is also made into everyone else's problem. People still immigrate to this horrible country because, largely due to this horrible country, conditions in their home country are even worse. Or, in some cases, they're not much worse but everyone lies to them about how good it is here. No one is immune to propaganda :/

It's looking like the people we were going to move to #PortlandOR with are actually going to leave the country instead because they have a support system elsewhere. So R and I are looking for community, jobs, and/or roommates pretty much anywhere in the #PNW (especially in cities) because we can't afford to stay in Cali but need access to queer and leftist spaces.
Portland is necessary if we can't find roommates though, because without their rental laws I doubt we could get an apartment

@SaltyMonk @0xabad1dea anyone who has a hard time showering every day is probably disabled in some way, if "only" depression. If someone sets a new year's resolution to shower every day, it means they appreciate the value in showering every day but struggle to. Which probably means they're disabled. I don't know who else you could have been referring to.
