For 240 years the U.S. has fueled its growth with cheap and abused labor forces that weren't allowed to vote; slaves, prisoners, women, children, migrants, indentured labor (H1B visas), "permanent" residents, and offshore workers.
Ironically, this extremely unethical model is being disrupted not because we suddenly developed a national conscience, but because the current regime has deliberately erased that part of history and so doesn't realize its importance to their own wealth.
But the wheels of progress must keep rolling. We've already seen increased use of child labor, as well as calls to eliminate women's suffrage. I expect prison labor in farms and factories to be a huge growth industry moving forward. And at some point it may occur to the regime that instead of deporting migrants, they should put them in work camps.
I bought a new e-reader as my Kobo from 2018 is starting to struggle and not work that well consistently. So my big splurge this time was spending an extra $30 for a basic 6 inch model that has color! (The Kobo Clara Colour is my replacement for the Kobo Clara HD)
Very amused that people in the review space are treating e-readers like TVs, assuming that people are more likely to want a more expensive version that does more things and has a bigger screen etc when.... Like I just want something to use to read. I have a writing tablet, I have a computer, I have physical notebooks... I just want to READ lol
On March 1st, Ethiopia celebrated the 129th anniversary of the Battle of Adwa, where Ethiopian forces repulsed Italy's invading colonial forces, ending the First Italo-Ethiopian war, and preserving Ethiopia's independence in 1896. Annual ceremonies like this one, honour Ethiopia's fallen warriors whose sacrifice meant Ethiopia would remain the only uncolonized country in Africa.
@kzodasnowman I do like Maintenance Phase but I have heard criticism of them before in terms of not being explicitly fat lib focused. BUT that said it's been awhile since I've listened so idk.
Need a paper or dissertation or hell a book on the religious undertones of sin and redemption that are present in how people talk about food and exercise. Bonus points if it ties in the link between fatness and antiblackness and white supremacy and Christian nationalism and fitness and ableism and productivity and capitalism.
LMAO no small task but chop chop someone get to it! I need to go finish reading Belly of the Beast (s/o to Da'Shaun Harrison)
Got to go work out, got to get ready for the summer, look how skinny I am! I'm going to be sooooo skinny and it's going to be sooooo good. Over the weekend I ate a sandwich and I was so bad!!! but now I'm going to be so good and so skinny instead of fat and nasty, omg my body looks so bloated but don't worry it's going to be gone soon! I'm so sorry I ate some food and was wrong but I'm going to be so correct and work so hard so I can be so good. Wow, look at my progress, I was so fat and now I'm so much skinnier. I'm so much better now. I just have to keep it up so I can keep being good and not bad. Oh, a piece of pizza???? OMG that's sooooo bad now I have to really burn. I've got to burn it all up all the calories all the fat all the flab it all has to go so I can be good and not bad. I am a hard worker and I deserve goodness! I'm not lazy (omg I'm sooooo lazy and fat but not now 😊) now I'm better and thank goodness. I was almost bad. PHEW. And now SALAD
