I get how some Leftists oppose the concept of #UBI because the funds get bounced back to corporations and the MIC.

However, if the payments enable their recipients to have the resources they need to live actual decent lives, then why deny marginalized folk that privilege?

Are you privileging those who can work over those who can't? That's Puritanism, and damn near right-wing.

If your objection to #BI/#UBI is that it reinforces capitalism, fine.

However, in the transition between capitalism & socialism on the way to Communism, people will still need basics, & the tradeoff of money for services will not merely wither away quietly or peacefully.

Basic Income, especially if done in a progressive fashion with greater benefits for underprivileged, marginalized and disabled folks, can serve as a real bridge to bring people into a more egalitarian socialist system.

Of course, it goes without saying that any #ProgressiveBasicIncome scheme MUST be executed within the context of broad redistribution of wealth and resources to serve the majority and eliminate economic inequality/inequity...and that includes radical increases of the minimum wage to Livable levels; a nationalized healthcare system stripped of private profiteering; and a shift in housing to eliminate homelessness rather than simply warehousing or kettling homeless folks.

@AnthonyJK some people like to think they can save the world with one grand gesture, and as soon as they seize power they can immediately destroy capitalism or something. The rest of us want to eat food in the meantime
