@william the wording of that is itching at me a bit. yes, it's a mental illness.... "rewarded" though. like you don't get mentally ill on purpose - you can clearly lean into it and manipulate others, narcissism. but possibly not all narcissism is a personality disorder, it's just extreme selfishness.
I dunno. I'm just worried there will be a backlash against people with mental illness, who are already stigmatised and denied proper treatment.
I'd rather these men were regarded with pity - and refusal to comply with demands, but with pity rather than admiration. and offered treatment. and a nice quiet "over there" to go to while they recover or if they refuse treatment.
@Rogue_Koala He wrote a show bible for TNG dictating how it would look and listing storylines and elements he didn't want in it. quite a few key things got changed off that list even before he died.
I think misogyny within ethnic minorities is a horrible subject. the desire to not be racist has resulted in authorities here turning a blind eye to terrible things. same with child abuse. and the idea that a minority community will deal with their own leaves women hung out to dry. But the fact that the racism line runs right through the centre and individual cases criss-cross one side to the other, it's a bloody minefield.
@Gnomeshatecheese I went for the first one, because that is what it means, but I think a lot of people would do it on the day and call it ok.
me, I'm still irked by the email sent 3rd March that said they (dept staff) would be in touch "soon" to arrange a stakeholders meeting. and this is now 1st May. There was a report to be published "this month" said in Feb. It was circulated at 5:30pm on the 28th of Feb. Which is pushing "this month" to it's limits.
wanna lay a bet when we'll get the next relevant and promised report due "in May"
@GalacticTurtle@stephagain I had a conversation with someone today who likes to cook. she likes to make things from scratch that you can buy. because it's fun for her. I was slightly appalled because she is also energy limited like me and we don't cook because it takes time and energy. You eat for fuel. But I see that if she doesn't do other fun things like knitting or art, then cooking is fun for her, as well as being useful. If you cook a lot then basic things will become quicker and easier, and you have all the right tools, but it's still hard when you are very tired. Having ready prepared food seems like a city thing though.
eating out all the time doesn't seem sustainable.
Turtle if it's any comfort at all, I was 19 before I struck a match because I was sure I would burn my fingers. And I didn't. You will conquer ovens. Meantime, you could get an airfryer, or slow cooker and brown the meat in a pan first! (I don't eat meat, I have no guidance on that other than do it properly so you don't get food poisoning)
Given its about 80% female, is the use of a male figure in the illustration, helping or hurting I wonder. Something being seen as a women's disease means it's less likely to be taken seriously, women's pain and exhaustion is dismissed as normal or exaggerating. Especially lovely from female medical staff who have the "I manage fine" attitude.
you are delusional. you are running from something, or have a bit of wiring crossed somewhere. ok, that's bad, but this is not reality. and nobody should be trying to force anyone to go along with it. you are a woman who take testosterone supplements in order to grow a beard. cos reasons. whatever. YOU ARE NOT NON-BINARY. get a fuckin grip.
I relate to the old guy fixing old things, that no-one else cares about because they want the wizzy new thing and just chuck stuff in landfill. I wanted to be able to fix things myself. but a combination of nowhere to learn and lack of gear, and my own lack of energy, I can't fix stuff.
