@william the wording of that is itching at me a bit. yes, it's a mental illness.... "rewarded" though. like you don't get mentally ill on purpose - you can clearly lean into it and manipulate others, narcissism. but possibly not all narcissism is a personality disorder, it's just extreme selfishness.

I dunno. I'm just worried there will be a backlash against people with mental illness, who are already stigmatised and denied proper treatment.

I'd rather these men were regarded with pity - and refusal to comply with demands, but with pity rather than admiration. and offered treatment. and a nice quiet "over there" to go to while they recover or if they refuse treatment.
