@amoshiashwili @HistoPol @dcjohnson I took the whole thread as educational, including HistoPol's responses. Not a misunderstanding. A difference in communication style and intent.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Sunday, 12-Nov-2023 14:47:47 JST Aaron I decided if I have to leave my house, I'm at least going to make sure my suffering isn't invisible. I'm sobbing in the police station lobby now.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Sunday, 12-Nov-2023 14:47:47 JST Aaron I don't think the people at the party 3 blocks over expected someone to show up in their back yard just now crying and begging them to stop the noise.
The police told me it's legal for anyone who feels like it to torture me with noise all day long, so long as it's before 10pm. My needs literally do not matter. I have no basic human right to be free from torture because I'm an autistic person and what tortures me doesn't torture most people. When that truth hits me full force is when I want to die because the world has no place for me.
I sobbed the whole walk home. I'm still in tears. IDK what to do. I guess I need to vacate my home till the strangers that own it right now decide to give it back.
#ActuallyAutistic
#DisabilityRights
#HumanIsHumanI'm a fucking person too, goddammit.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Sunday, 12-Nov-2023 14:47:45 JST Aaron They had me wait for 20 minutes so some asshole could come out and tell me that I'm not being reasonable and that everyone is on equal footing and that by wanting equal treatment I'm setting my needs above everyone else's and that my 45 years of lived experience proving to me that I'm a second class citizen are just my opinion. Thanks for listening, you piece of shit.

If it is, give me a sign that isn't ambiguous and I'll follow back. I don't want to validate a scammer or identity thief.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Thursday, 12-Oct-2023 01:42:03 JST Aaron @leyonhjelm WTF is this. Fuck off. You sound like an angsty teenager trying to piss off as many people in one go as possible. How sad and small your life must be if this is the only way you can find joy. But you're going to have to go do it elsewhere. Reported and blocked.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Monday, 25-Sep-2023 13:28:00 JST Aaron @esther @emilygorcenski I finally got it when I learned tensorflow. Why couldn't somebody just tell me that vectors are lists of numbers, matrices are tables of numbers, and tensors are what happens when you keep adding more dimensions after that?

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Tuesday, 29-Aug-2023 23:10:18 JST Aaron @mattly @LadyDragonfly Wait, this is the just intonation guy, isn't it!? I totally didn't connect the two.
When I was in college, I experimented with music and came up with what I thought was my own novel music theory, based on the physics of sound. Years later I discovered that (of course!) it wasn't novel at all, aside from the particular idiosyncrasies of my approach, and that it's called just intonation. If this is the person I think it is, then I've been reading his work and being inspired by it for decades now, and I never even realized he had an actual book to read. (I don't pay a lot of attention to specific authors and tend to gather material sporadically and on the fly. Also, I'm terrible with names.)
I think he has also done a lot of work on the physiology and neurological processes of hearing, as well.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Friday, 04-Aug-2023 15:41:59 JST Aaron @weaselx86 @Dogzilla @vikxin @Radical_EgoCom @Benfell @duckwhistle Corporations are designed for this exact purpose. Sit between workers and customers and take a cut of every dollar that changes hands, for a 3rd party that contributes nothing. Give it a new name, "profit", and pretend it's virtuous and a goal we should all strive for. Never mind the leg up that already wealthy people have in securing such an income stream.

A cooperative is a corporation minus the conflict of interest and resource extraction. I can see no specific benefit to maintaining the existence of for-profit corporations.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Friday, 04-Aug-2023 15:41:54 JST Aaron @Benfell @Dogzilla @weaselx86 @vikxin @Radical_EgoCom @duckwhistle The most familiar type to most people is credit unions. If you've ever had experience with a credit union, you've probably sensed a difference in the over all "flavor" of their business. Much less in your face about getting your business. Much more service-oriented and wholesome.
What distinguishes a coop from a regular corporation is that the shareholders are the workers and/or the customers. This eliminates a lot of conflicts of interest that arise from shareholders being 3rd parties. You won't screw your workers if you are one of the workers. You won't screw your customers if you are one of the customers.
Another common and important (but not universal) features of cooperatives is they tend to be one share per shareholder, which makes them very democratic in how they are run.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Friday, 04-Aug-2023 15:41:53 JST Aaron @Benfell @Dogzilla @weaselx86 @vikxin @Radical_EgoCom @duckwhistle A cooperative isn't typically profit-focused, because, again, those profits would just go back to the people they were taken from. They are also more robust to economic instability, as a result of this lack of profit-oriented behavior. And they tend to be more environmentally friendly and responsible because the communities that own them live in the same environment that would be affected.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Friday, 04-Aug-2023 15:41:44 JST Aaron @Dogzilla @Benfell @weaselx86 @vikxin @Radical_EgoCom @duckwhistle One thing I've heard of is "exit to community". Startups are private but then to "go public" they are sold to the community as cooperatives. VCs can still invest, but the end goal is a company that the community wants to own, not one that extracts resources from it. It shifts the the incentives away from a focus purely on profitability even when the company is still private.

Aaron (hosford42@techhub.social)'s status on Monday, 31-Jul-2023 14:45:30 JST Aaron @Toastie What frustrates me about the whole thing is, my native heritage is denied to me. My mom is native-presenting enough that she's been the target of racism in the workplace. I've seen her come home in tears from it, and she's been forced out of at least one job as a result. But on more than one occasion, I've spoken up about my native heritage and I've been told it isn't real, that because I'm white-presenting and don't have roll papers, I don't count. It's an important part of my identity, but strangers think it's fine to tell me that it's made up "romantic" BS, when I know that it isn't. I understand that tribes don't want to accept me as a citizen if I can't prove my heritage, and I can't blame them, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. It's very painful to me to have this part of myself denied, not just in formal records, but in my every day life.
