ActivityPub is there on Wordpress, Ghost and other blogging platform whether the users cares or not.

All those experts in social network popping up here and there about how Mastodon is failing and why its UX is the issue.
And not one wondering if marketing, Silicon Valley led trends and FOMO has anything to do with that.

Mastodon is OS, people have made different versions of it. It's not even the only microblogging platform in here. We have around 10 of them not counting variants, thousands of instances in US and twice more in Europe.
People made other UIs. Different groups created moderation tools.
The choice is there.
