I'm kinda surprised that PeerTube let Loops take the short video segment.

They had everything going for them to do this, but they are an older project that is managed by a non-profit, and have a lot of bureaucracy it seems.

Being a solo dev is amazing, we can move fast and ship new products and projects like Loops in months, not years.

Pixelfed only gets a fraction of funding that Mastodon/PeerTube do.

    Wanna help change that?

@mehdi_benadel While that wasn't my intention, I can see why some would take it that way.

I deleted the post, and appreciate you reaching out.

I'm eager to work with PeerTube and Loops, it's not a competition, but we only see a fraction of the funding they do, that was the point.

@dansup Please Dan. That's not a good way of talking about other projects. We are not here to market or to mimic the Silicon Valley.

@dansup@mastodon.social They didn't "let you take the segment". The fediverse is not a market, there is no competition over user numbers.

Also Peertube does not have a minimum video upload length so you can just as well upload short videos with it.

@SuperDicq they never did anything to compete with TikTok is all I meant, and there is some level of competition between fediverse projects, but it's one of a healthy banter that is to be expected.

And like you said, they can upload short videos to PeerTube, but what i originally said still stands, they never made an app to share short videos.

@dansup@mastodon.social To me the point of the fediverse is not to "compete" with proprietary social media.

Competition means we're both striving for a common goal, but that is not true.

The Fediverse is striving to create a free replacement for proprietary social media.

The proprietary social media companies are striving to make as much money as possible.

We are not competing, because we both want different things. It's not a zero-sum game.
