    @clive @pluralistic We should just call this period of the planet, the 2010+ time in which everything successful is being turned to shit, the enshittocene.

    @soatok > this thing is either a textbook example of developer hubris or it's another law enforcement sting operation.

    I don't think I've seen developers this bad recently.

    @soatok I'd be willing to put down a tenner, but I don't think I can find somebody that thinks this isn't law enforcement, and it'll likely take a few decades to be admitted publicly.

    > Why could images requires JS? The fuck is wrong with "modern" web "devs"?

    I had a corporate website that required us to use IE6 and ActiveX support on that website. I looked up what it was actually using ActiveX for that made me unable to use a decent browser.

    They used ActiveX to load DirectX, and DirectX to grayscale the login button.

    @Infoseepage @Nicovel0 @grumpydad @appassionato @palestine Chunks of iron are not great, chunks of iron with a core of gunpowder are problematic.

    @Orca @soatok uh...

    for non-technical people, this is like opening your door with the picture of a key. Not your key, not a picture of your key, just a picture of *a* key. It's that weird and inappropriate.

    Incidentally, read the full blog post. While I thought this was the most outrageous thing I read this year, it has other excellent examples competing for the top spot.

    @256 yeah... speaking of, recently tried to find something with Links. Turns out both Google and DDG do not work with Links any more - I had to use Bing.

    @bobjonkman We should really have a giant feast around winter solstice, with lots of tiny lights to compensate for the darkness, and like a get-together with the whole family with some good food, and maybe some gifts.

    Makes you wonder why no such feast exists.

    I do believe that most current monarchies have much less money, and more control from the public over what happens.

    @jwildeboer I'm mostly surprised the more common things of "damaged equipment still used", "power extensions used beyond rating" and "outdated house wiring" are not listed.

    @drewdevault That argument makes about as much sense as "I am in a wheelchair therefore I deserve to beat up others with a stick".
