It’s been a year and a few months since we stood up our Mastodon instance. What an awesome experience this has been.

Makes me appreciate the many instance admins out there in the fediverse. Kudos to everyone who has helped host and moderate their part of the fediverse over the years. The tech is the tool but you are the soul.

@rimu@mastodon.nzoss.nz @dansup @rimu@piefed.social @piefedadmin piefed is great. I’m trying to follow some of these communities on mastodon but having difficulty. Are there specific ones you recommend that work well in mastodon?

Also I really need to educate myself on why Threads would be moving slower in the EU to federate. Very counter intuitive.

@davidbhimself.online I’ve been using @bsky.brid.gy for a while now and I can confirm it is awesome. I follow some awesome people on Bluesky including @jay.bsky.team @pfrazee.com and @mmasnick.bsky.social and they can follow me.

Does anyone have any great examples of #mbin communities? It's easy to find Lemmy communities but harder to find Mbin since the transition from Kbin.

This morning we shipped an exciting new version of #Flipboard that enables *anyone* on Flipboard to follow *anyone* in the fediverse.

This is the culmination of a ton of work to deeply integrate #ActivityPub into the product. The result is incredibly seamless.

Just tap on the search icon in Flipboard and tap the follow button for anyone featured there or that you find in search. You’ll soon start seeing their posts in all of your relevant Flipboard feeds. Check out these screenshots:

@BeAware @samlai.bsky.social @jaz Thanks! I don't think we want moderation to be exclusive. It's more about trying to establish a place where a) moderation professionals can collaborate and b) moderation decisions can be made in a way which don't invite abuse of the individuals making the decisions.

I totally agree that moderation decisions should be evidence based and publicly available to other admins.

@wjmaggos @samlai.bsky.social @jaz what are your thoughts on why moderating misinformation might not be a good idea?

@BeAware yes it's super important we build in a way to protect people from bad actors who bomb their replies or quote post malevolently.
