@davidbhimself.online I’ve been using @bsky.brid.gy for a while now and I can confirm it is awesome. I follow some awesome people on Bluesky including @jay.bsky.team @pfrazee.com and @mmasnick.bsky.social and they can follow me.

@mike @davidbhimself.online every day we're inching closer and closer to full communication across these platforms and it's awesome as hell.

I still hope one day we can get rid of these "opt-in" procedures and have it wide open, but until that day comes, I will have to live with asking folks to turn it on.😅

@parigotmanchot @mike @davidbhimself.online I do agree somewhat, but it does have it's own advantages, they just haven't been fully realized yet.

It's still very much in full active development with new things happening all the time.

I was also "why the hell is bluesky a thing when AP exists, they're not even decentralized!" guy until very recently.

I even had a bad interaction with the CEO in which I asked her about the decentralization and she didn't really have a good answer for me.

However, I have recently decided to be more open minded about it and putting them on a "wait and see".

A really good video that helped me understand their goals was Waveform's latest video regarding Fediverse and ATProto/Bluesky. Jay was very clear and informative, contrary to our interaction previously. So much so that I regret she couldn't explain better in our conversation.

Here's that link if you're interested. It's a long video, but it's very good and informative about both AP/Fediverse and ATproto/BlueSky.

@BeAware @mike @davidbhimself.online What's sad is that BS developed their own protocol while a fully working one was here...

Glad to hear it! @parigotmanchot, more background on the core differences and why Bluesky didn't use AP in eg https://atproto.com/guides/faq#why-not-use-activitypub and https://github.com/bluesky-social/atproto/discussions/1716
