@Flipboard I discovered that #Flipboard can not follow #WordPress blogs in the #Fediverse.
I tried following several of mine & it did not work, then I tried to follow @pfefferle@mastodon.social blog (which is @pfefferle@notiz.blog) from the Flipboard app & it also did not work.
I encountered the same error when trying to follow #Ghost (on @index) & #MicroBlog (using @manton) too.
#WriteFreely works though! 😀😅 (thanks @matt‽).

@pfefferle@mastodon.social @Flipboard @pfefferle@notiz.blog @index @manton @matt Hmm…is your Flipboard account federated‽ I can follow most accounts from @darnell@flipboard.com but that is because Flipboard activated ActivityPub on my account (as part of a beta test).
I remember others like @youronlyone had issues, but most of those went away after updating their app.

It could be a random bug though, as I was able to follow WriteFreely blogs from Flipboard (that is the only blog platform working right now).

I think, currently, for Flipboard accounts that are not federated yet, Flipboard is only subscribing to the Atom feed.
At least this was what noticed on my end after the new feature finally worked on my device. I can follow anyone on the fediverse, but there are no notifications that they were followed by a Flipboard account.
Maybe if a fediverse account is not sending the proper Atom feed, Flipboard won't be able to “follow it” if the Flipboard account is not yet federated.

@mike @greg @JsonCulverhouse maybe you can also tell me what the fallback is, if a user has federation disabled? What happens if this user clicks the follow button? will it subscribe to the RSS feed? does that feed has to be a well-known URI?

@greg @codeDude @Flipboard @pfefferle@notiz.blog @index @manton @matt @JsonCulverhouse My Account is now enabled and I tried to debugged the issue mentioned by @darnell It seems that Flipboard is expecting that the inbox URL follows the same pattern as used by Mastodon (`{profile-url}/inbox`) instead of using the inbox URL that is referenced in the Actors profile.

For my account (flipboard.com/@youronlyone), I so far haven't seen fediverse related features yet. Tried ‘clear cache’ in Android as well, and checked if I can enable it on my magazines.

I think I was just confused what it was that was being activated. I initially understood it as something similar to @darnell@flipboard.com , so something like @youronlyone@flipboard.com . I misunderstood, it's on me. ^^;;
