It's only a question till somebody gets fired for buying Microsoft. For the moment it's still "nobody ever gets fired for buying MS". (the current version of the evergreen of IT.)
The moment this starts to break, it's rather clear (and the rulings are here) that the USA, even in the "rule-of-law, democracy version", is not a safe state in the sense of the GDPR. You do have to close your eyes and do very fanciful interpretation to arrive at any other conclusion.

Especially as on Saturday he still sounded like Trump's lapdog. After the election, suddenly the muzzle seems to be gone?
That's surprising, one usually expects politicians to get more moderate when they move from campaign into government mode.

Coup is fine. A coup does not need to happen by military shooting around in the streets. It can happen from the top.
And let's be honest, #Trump has crossed a line by trying to change the constitution via an EO, ignoring courts, lying obviously to courts, ...
Another thought, an enabling law, does not necessarily be a law. The famous one, was actually a series of laws. And in the USA one could argue that a number of SCOTUS verdicts in the past years have

@dangillmor Dan you haven't noticed, US media (and big tech) are basically taking what they get from the White House, and run with it unfiltered.
And "allies" like European media, just copies like cheating students from US media the #Trump propaganda.
Personally, I'd recommend checking foreign sources (and yes, machine translation is fine for that), VPNs and see what the rest of the world sees.
Because US (and EU) media will be singing the glory of #trump .

Well, the problem with the bible is, beside the little issue, which version of the bible, is that you can literally find a verse that can be interpreted to support almost any position in the good book. -

@WarnerCrocker @davidtoddmccarty One of my early "jobs" as a freelancer taught me that.
Our direct boss was rather loyal to the people he brought over to the US, and who were in a vulnerable position (e.g. their work visa required them to leave the US after 7 days unemployment, so the CTO made sure that he took them with him when the VC made the startup implode).
Now the "corporate" promises were not worth the electrons used to communicate them.

Sorry. Corporation are by definition not loyal. They'll do what they have to do to optimise their bottom line. The question is only how short term they are thinking.

@br00t4c So I guess no US media will mention that German prosecutors have started an investigation "about using a unconstitutional symbol" (e.g. the Hitller salute would be such a symbol in Germany) in relation to #Naziboy awkward arm movement.
And don't worry, not against #Musk, but against an artist collective (Centre for Political Beauty) that projected a video of that gesture on Tesla's German factory wall.

Yeah, I know. Everybody with basic statistics education can calculate the expected value of participating in a lottery, and yet there are enough idiots who pay the voluntary tax (read up on the history of lotteries they have been literally introduced to save bankrupt kingdoms' treasuries.) -

Yes, there is that little gem. He obviously promised many things that are contradictions to other things he promised.
(As some people have correctly pointed out, some chapters in project2025 read literally like an undergraduate summary of all options on a topic.)But if he had promised things that are contrary to your interests, than you have to expect a certain probability that the stuff you don't like will happen.

@glynmoody So you mean his promise to pardon the Jan6 criminals who killed police officers if memory serves, would happen in an alternative universe without police officers thus no harm done. While in this universe where there are LEOs, Trump wouldn't do that to them?
You know, there is that irritating thing about reality, at some point Schrödinger's cat is either alive, or dead.
Literally like a sudoku puzzle, at some point the options for a cell narrow down to one possibility.

@glynmoody police union that supported the face eating leopards' party wonders about that new policy that all police officers have to submit to a daily face chewing by one of the local leopards.
We are back to "Nobody could have known that he meant what he was saying" and "Everybody was surprised that many if not most of Hitler's ugly policies were preannounced in his bestseller Mein Kampf".
Seriously, what did you think the felonious psychopath would do when elected?

Which is basically why the IOC gave up on trying to biochemically determinate the gender of athletes in the 1970s.Yes there biologically 2 genders. And these last bit of odd outliers. Some even show outward oddities like both sets of genitalia, many are only odd on the genetic level while the outward expression is normal.

Quite reasonable. But the issue I do have is, people seem to identify this guy's problematic stance with pixelfed.
So is pixelfed the software racist?
It's pixelfed the community racist?
Because if your standard is that you only use software written by non racists, you should throw away your mobile. Quickly. Meta has right wing project2025 fascists at VP level.
And yes the past year hasn't been exactly fun for despite being a white guy too.

But that's still not the point.Opensource drivers/firmware is what one wants to be honest.
As nice or is that other manufacturers provide the feature in "free as beer", nowadays that means the feature can be gone any moment. It's not necessary even a genius idea of your manufacturer, they might be forced to such things by the courts. Eg AVM was forced to remove certain obscure WiFi features because of a patent ruling from their routers, oops.

@glynmoody Well, one could argue, the USA's focus is freedom of speech.
OTOH, we have learned here (sadly the journalists have left out the legal details), it's actually illegal to confront somebody in public with a properly spent conviction in Austria. (A former politician mentioned that during an interview, cough, and nobody corrected him, and actually, the media actually stopped mentioning his former glory.)
But then we do give notorious criminals new identities so they can have a life.
