CEOs: It's impossible to get anything done when we're not all sitting together in the same office at the same time
also CEOs: We're replacing this entire department with a team of contractors across the world because we can pay them less

@souvlaki As opposed to Finnish This Meal, where you add vodka and salmiak licorice to all the dishes
@aral human centipede theory
relatable
@aral That really sucks, now imagine all the women trying to deal with deepfake porn
I'm always fascinated by the way that fantasy writers' interests influence their magic systems, even though it's utterly predictable:
@annika Oh, nice! I loved my yotaphone2.
Can you run "normal" android apps on it, or are you confined to what they provide / support?
I'm going to start leaving audio logs in my code instead of comments
@InternetEh This has always been my experience with computer versions of d&d. "Ooo, I'll specialize in axes!", "Hey, I'll take exotic weapon proficiency this time!" ➡️ "oh look, another sword 🙄"
This is amazing.
I'm a few days behind, but basically all of Copenhagen found out this weekend that laws currently in force allow bicycles to park in all city car parking spots, when a representative of the "Socialist" party made a public proposal to put up informative signage to that effect.
The Technical and Environment Commission would like you to be aware, however, that it could have unforeseen consequences to inform people that bikes can be parked in the same spots as motor vehicles
I fully expect this law to be reversed at the earliest opportunity, but until then: Let the hilarity ensue!

microsoft made excel execute python code in the cloud because it was easier than shipping a working python install on windows
Multifactor authentication must consist of:
Instead of defederating from fosstodon, adding a thing that autotranslates posts into a random non-english language before federating them there
Trolley problem: You are in a runaway trolley with nearly 8 billion other people.
If the trolley is not stopped, it will roll into a furnace.
Simply pulling the lever will stop the trolley, but it requires billions of people to stop what they're doing and pull the lever together.
aaaaaa there are already so many federated microblogging services!
If you want to make a new activitypub service, make something we don't have yet!
Bookwyrm but for video games or movies!
Federated fandom!
Short-form video! (No, this is neither peertube nor owncast)
Be weird! Nobody needs yet another choice of microblogging server!
BG3 players: How much does enjoying the game hinge on your party being Very Good at combat?
I ask because, despite playing hundreds of hours of (and really enjoying) games like neverwinter nights, pillars of eternity, shadowrun, I also noped out of games like pathfinder: kingmaker and divinity: original sin 2 because all the mandatory combats just became a slog, especially since I tend to choose / upgrade my party members for roleplaying / story interestingness and not just minmaxing combat effectiveness. This feels especially relevant given that Larian is the developer for BG3.
@pettter Maybe theoretically, but I have yet to see an instance of a billionaire being fined so much they can't afford food
Fining undesirable behavior just sends the message that the behavior is only undesirable when poor people do it
I exist AMA
@owl @meave Thumb war is merely the continuation of thumb diplomacy by other means
