I'm starting to build an eye for it, looking out for mosses as I cycle the city. It's a bit like trying to find mushrooms in a forest. I do wish I could add the names of the mosses and lichens in the description though.
Besides them storing personal data unencrypted and sharing them with governments in the past. This seems like a company that just wants to make money from left and right, with clear government support and invested in a right wing/fascist userbase.
I'm aware of some AI generated #alttext on fedi, and I guess its better than nothing? But it is surprisingly common how often it misdescribes what's actually in the pictured. ๐ฌ๐คทโ๏ธ
@vaurora this bit is a thing I certainly agree on, not so sure about your steps in (2), but don't think it matters much. We don't have societies at large doing these things anyway and the big ones don't even care so any impact is insignificant.
There's other ways of surviving though than energy competition.
But if you want to actually have impact you need to stop the people who don't care, one way or the other.

@drewdevault there's two things that are of concern for me.. 1) as I understand its still a commercial? Model. This has inherent issues which makes me worried. 2) too big to fail and flagship issues. To many people in one place, gives a lot if power to the platform owner and to little to the community.
These are reasons why I'm not jumping in any wagons.
