@BowsacNoodle@Crux_Invictus You know that bit in movies where a dude is trying to stab another dude in the face and they're struggling over the knife? I'd like a machine that trains for that so if I am ever in that position: the other guy is definitely not stopping me.
@sickburnbro Would be interesting to be a policy maker and see what kind of outcomes you could produce with incentives. Like... What if you made it so they have to get 110 or better on an IQ test PLUS x time on a 100m sprint PLUS 5th dan in judo or better PLUS x accuracy in pistol shooting etc.
@Humpleupagus@ApocalyptoLatte1488 Did you know "Equine Therapy" is a thing? I think basically they have autistic girls ride a horse for a while and being away from a screen for a bit and cumming makes them calm down, or something.
@gnarley_boot@Basedshibe The trick is finding a hag so far gone that she has lost custody of her kids. Then it's like she isn't even a single mother anymore.
@PraxisOfEvil@Elliptica Skibidi Toilet is unironically good...if you get past the first 15-30 minutes or so. The first ones are shitposts but then it becomes more like a proper sci-fi war story.
@djsumdog@ArdainianRight@hachi So if I didn't have a problem with that you wouldn't replace us? Pajeet, this is nonsense. The brown tide is independent of people being mean to you online, so how would your mongrel family members be some kind of righteous blow toward white supremacy? Spare me your crocodile tears: none of the racism you face makes you even think about moving home. So our people are giving you parasites a better standard of life than your own people would. So what would any of us have to feel ashamed about?
@ned Oh, here's a thing to know about Pokemon. I don't know if this applies to the newer ones but they do two or three kinds of remake. If you look at the titles you'll notice some are similar. They're the more normal kind of remake.
eg. Pokemon Red then some years later "Fire Red." Same game but newer device, newer graphics, some new features etc.
But then at the time they will make "Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue" where it was essentially the same game with very minor differences. Particularly a couple of pokemon appear in one version and not the other. In theory it incentivizes kids to play with each other to get them all. More cynically it meant parents with a bit more cash probably bought both games, two game boys and a link cable for one kid.
Then the third kind is they'll do a thing like release Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver and the year after Pokemon Crystal. Where Crystal was essentially the same as Gold and Silver but with extra content.
One thing that has been with Pokemon games for a while is there will be varying amounts of content that gets discontinued shortly after the generation.
@ned How the pokemon games work is there are "generations" where it's the core games that came out at a particular time and satellite smaller titles. There was usually ways to connect one gen to another but in a limited fashion. I have only played up to gen 8, the pre-switch stuff. I can't speak to what the switch stuff is like. I imagine I would turn my nose up at it as a crusty old 30+ yo boomer. But, being as it's what is available now and it's easier to have on a big TV: it's probably the easiest way for the family to enjoy it together. Also, since you didn't play it, you're not necessarily going to have any extra enthusiasm for the older titles that you want to share with your kids anyway.
@NathanielHigger1488 Remember: you can repent of a murder but you can't repent of a suicide. Jesus could have forgiven Judas for betraying him - the suicide is what damned him.
@poastoak@ned Electric is nice sometimes but you can just get an electric hotplate that would plug into an outlet. It's not as easy to have a plug-in gas stove.
