@slothrop Kind of what I did. Some ten years ago, I bought near-weekly t-shirts on teefury.com, back when they still had nifty mashups instead of fan art.

I now have them on *rotation*, because otherwise picking t-shirts is too high a mental load.

But it means I wear each of them maybe 2-3 times a year, so they're mostly still as good as new.

Usually it's him babbling like a waterfall, until he suddenly rolls over and sleeps. Sometimes mid sentence.

Anyhow, yesterday's topic was him wanting to sleep all week.

This night he crawls into our bed. It's uncomfortable, because he kicks.

And then at 6am he was all "Papa, I want to go downstairs. Papa? Papaaaaaa!"

Last night, our 4yo explained AT LENGTH how he wanted to sleep an entire week, and definitely all day today. When he was in bed, and supposed to go to sleep.

He's a talker, and unloads the day in the evening. That's fine, and cute really. But when he's tired, he repeats himself and will insist more on the repetition if he doesn't feel heard. So nodding along isn't enough; you have to actively engage with him, whilst trying to get him to shut up so he can let go...

Why do kids exist at 6am on a Saturday? Why?

What I'm building with @interpeer is similar enough from 10,000ft, but is really less about "a messenger" or "a social media app", and more about re-imagining a generic (stack of) protocols where HTTP and TCP would be nowadays, with a tentative view to pushing into IP extensions (rather than replacing IP, though I'm open to that in principle).

Because of that genericity, a whole lot of individually relatively small things are different from...

Yeah, well, I know one shouldn't blame tools. But the other way around sure feels like victim blaming.

@clacke some time around 2010 I had to review some PHP code, after hearing how awesomely different it was than the PHP of the past.

Then I saw the same shit I wrote back in 2001 or so.

PHP may not be dead, but it should be.
