@stylo_the_unicorn So yeah in english you can say 'being [adjective]' as an alternative to 'behaving [adverb]'.
So 'being austistic' can be intrepreted as 'behaving autistically' and a person does not have to have autism for that to make sense.

@stylo_the_unicorn Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder, 'being autistic' means either having said disorder, or displaying behavior common or stereotypical of autism in a given situation. But I feel like there's more to what you're asking, and I'm too autistic to properly interpret it.
Texas sends 9 cops with riot shields to a latino community figure's house, searched her entire house for hours, and stole her cell phone, laptop, voter registration cards, and certification for a voter registration course so she can't help fellow latinos sign up to vote.
Meanwhile anarchists tell you your vote doesn't matter.
@redrozalia @AnarchoDoggo The problem is that if you can't convince people (or implicitly or explicitly discourage them to) do one thing one day every four years, then good luck getting them to do anything that could resemble the change we need to stop the shit going on in Gaza.
Voting is the barest, easiest minimum. It is the one power we truly do possess. Not exercising this right is like lifting weights but refusing to grip the bar with your hand; you can do it like that but you're being ridiculous.
@redrozalia @AnarchoDoggo I imagine we can agree that AOC and Bernie are the best kinds of liberal available though, and it is in our interest to see those kinds of liberals succeed, because they are one of the few people who COULD help bring this nightmare to a close, rather than trying to tear them down for tactically maintaining their relevance when the deck is stacked against people with good sense.
It's not about fascist vs liberal, it's about the fact that we need people in politics who we can work with and tearing them down for doing what they must to remain important so they can keep making people's lives better is... dumb.
@AnarchoDoggo Yep, they should speak the truth and lose and in doing so make sure no progressives are ever relevant again, that'll get us closer to making the world a better place.
@AnarchoDoggo AOC and Bernie endorsed Biden earlier than anyone because they know if the dems lose they would pin the blame on the left for it and everyone else would eat it up. The subsequent rise of fascism would also be blamed on the left, and it would ensure that the USA never gets another progressive law in ever again. Bernie and AOC know that they must live to fight another day. This is why they're still relevant and influential.
@arrrg Wait until you hear what people who want to win an election say about themselves everywhere else on the planet.
@HeavenlyPossum @arrrg Biden stepping down prevented a minimum of 2 other genocides.
@samanthagroves Yes, as per 'a lot of it is bad' and pointing out the relevant subject that is an exception.
@samanthagroves Like most things in international relations, a lot of it is bad, but not without upsides. Stuff like 'aggressive invasions and land grabs are looked down upon and punished', for example Venezuela was stoking fears of capturing oil-rich parts of Guyana in 2023, and international condemnation was swift and clear.
@arrrg Must be exhausting to live like this, trying to put down every positive thing that ever happens just because it ain't perfect.
@gnu2 We're entitled to our actions, not to their consequences.
We can speak the truth, that people aren't ready to accept it is a different matter. But the worst thing possible is to do not tell the truth. Like Biden failed to. Maybe telling the truth won't make a difference, but that's not up to us, what is up to us is the decision to tell the truth.
The truth is that trump is a fascist, a sexual predator, and the truth is also that he and his base are super fucking weird.
@flawed Seems to me like you think we can only do one thing at a time. Did you notice that Kamala has also called Trump a sexual predator, a convicted felon, a fascist, and a bad father? The best Joe Biden could do was say he had 'the morals of an alley cat'. Sounds like they're doing better over time and I don't see why poo-pooing that is worthwhile.
@flawed We've spent nearly a decade calling Trump an evil fascist and it hasn't done shit for anyone, we've spent one week calling them weird and every single member of the republican apparatus is seething and malding and doubling down on their weirdness.
@railing Damn I thought this place was full of leftists.
@BetaCuck4Lyfe Anarchists on this site be like 'nooo calling people weird perpetuates harmful social norms' when we're calling these freaks weird.
@railing Being undiscerning to the maximum is not a virtue. Millions of people are dead due to the previous Trump presidency and you are spitting in their face as well as in the face of Ukrainians and the LGBT community who would be genocided in the event of a Trump victory.
@xangoh Is it enforcing thoughless conformity if it's correct? Don't you know that even republicans literally can't get behind figures like DeSantis or Kari Lake because even dumbass conservatives can't get around the fact that these people look and act like inhuman ghouls? Trump is the only one with the sauce, and that's why he's irreplaceable.
@xangoh What if it's the only way to convince complicit conformists? Diversity of tactics is important.
