@br00t4c but I thought he was going to pay for it with the trillion dollars in tariffs?
@clive
Except is that really true? My understanding is you can now create an independent Bsky instance and you can migrate between them taking your followers with you and unlike ActivityPub all your posts go with you too.
The risk is that kind of like Threads muscling in on ActivityPub, the 2,000 pound gorilla in the room with all the user base and money tends to dominate the conversation when it comes to protocol evolution and defacto standards.

Elect a clown, expect a circus. Elect an evil clown, expect a bloodbath.
@Gargron so true - I worked at a VC funded startup and they let it go for two years with no interest in us making revenue. I was told by the founder this was common and gives VCs more leverage later. If you've created something good then you'll need more money to stay in business and they get more equity for continued funding because you're desperate. And if you're mediocre you're never going to be a great exit so they cut their losses and move on.
@lanodan
Yeah, why only 2,4 domain name components... However, as the complaint points out, they aren't at all normal.
@tinfoil-hat
And following up he just endorsed Harris....
@kennethb
Exactly. Under Trump, and thanks to his fully owned SCOTUS Six, "official acts" are now "official crimes". He will be Chief Criminal Officer of the Criminal Branch. The only executive function he'll carry out is execution of his opponents.

IMO it's a real stretch to imagine DOJ "is willing to play hardball" for us after what we saw in the Trump Dictatorship beta test. The AG knows if they don't play ball for Trump he'll get another and just keep on firing or bribing them until one shows up that does. Project 2025 ensures there's a long line of compliant lackeys pledged to serve Trump first. Even if we hold the House and Senate we'll never get the super majority required to impeach these traitors.

@Runyan50
He could in theory just say they have been involved with domestic terrorists plotting to overthrow the country and whisk them off to a black site. Completely legal and unprosecuteable now.

I don't think I was advocating for autocracy unless you interpreted the "locking them up" part for that. All we have to do is apply the laws to them as has been done this far. If the prosecutions had started a year earlier we might have stood a reasonable chance of Trump and many more of his cronies already in jail. As it is if he gets in he'll immediately have the Justice Dept drop all charges on him which should never be possible but is.

You had me worried for a second there - but only because I didn't know who you are. Glad to hear that someone with moral integrity and community spirit is behind Pixelfed.

For all those in the USA I wish you all a happy Independence Day and sincerely hope it isn't your last before you all become subjects of a King again.

This reminds me of the time when I was on a trip overseas and lost my US resident alien card aka Green card. I put it in my laptop case for safe keeping but forgot about it. A couple of days before having to return to the US which would be impossible without the card I could not find it anywhere. The night before I was due at the US consulate to beg for a replacement I pulled out my laptop, turned it on and out popped my green card from the CD drive. It ate my card!
@tk
@CloudyMrs I wonder how many of those posts are from real people and how many are from spots or shills for the auto or oil industry?
@pluralistic the class action suit should be the biggest in history - quite apart from the higher ticket prices caused by the Tickmaster/LiveNation monopoly - they've directly skimmed of 20, 30, even 40% "convenience" and "service" fees from almost every concert ticket I've bought in the last 10 years. That's probably at least $1000 just for me, one person. In the US I'm sure the total has to be tens of billions if not hundreds.
@bmacDonald94
Everything they say is the opposite of what they want. They would be happy to lock up queers, Muslims, atheists, socialists, and bring back slavery. Because Jesus loves you!

@DrALJONES
I remember all the times my fellow students threw cans of pink paint at Barclays Bank and protested for divestment from South Africa by the college funds. I'm glad they never gave up.
It's so clear what the right side of justice is here and neither US party is on it at the moment. If you support the ICC for indicting Putin for war crimes one day and then question their legitimacy for indicting both Hamas and Israeli leaders for war crimes you kind of lost your own.
@DrALJONES
So how about if you fund and supply weapons to a war criminal? Or how about if your entire party is pushing a pro-war criminal agenda and criticizes the other side for not being pro-war criminal enough?
