"Walgreens was specifically accused of violating the False Claims Act, a law that states that anyone who “knowingly submits” false claims to the govt is liable for 3x the amount of damages, plus an additional penalty.

This allegation came after a disclosure in January 2020, when Walgreens self-reported to the US government “issues with its billing systems and practices”

Twitter is still the best place if you want to get a brand's attention or follow politicians. Bluesky seems to have attracted the Big Personalities that have (mostly, but not completely) left twitter. Threads might have the user numbers for convos about Dave Grohl's extra-marital kid

There's this (largely unpracticed) idea on Wall St that every once in a while you should sell your entire portfolio and then decide which stocks you actually want to buy back. It's a way of dealing with the Endowment Effect which says that people have a bias toward overvaluing things they already own

I think every police dept should fire 10% of the force every six months, and let an independent panel determine who should be hired back based on interviews and unredacted copies of their files

I agree that there's little to be gained from the debate. As a citizen I think it's -EV

But I'll be watching it anyway because the shared experience of MST3K'ing the circus part of "bread and circuses" has some value to me. Some of the live commentary here on Mastodon during these events is entertaining

Why is it that some toots with links show only a url, while others show anything from a preview (title + art) to the actual content?

With youtube and TikTok links, sometimes it's just a link with no hint as to what it's about, other times I can see the title and first frame or even watch the video directly in Mastodon

I want all my posts to offer full previews so that no one has to click on a link blind. Sometimes it happens automagically, other times I have to kludge it

Earlier today a mutual told a story about a handshake gone horribly wrong and... wtf? Didn't we all make a deal during the pandemic:

1. no more shaking hands
2. no more blowing out birthday candles
3. women don't need to wear bras everywhere any more

I can be pushed off (1), am less flexible on (2), and no one is taking (3) away from me. Did everyone else cave on this when it was decided that Covid isn't a thing anymore?
