Just looking at https://fedidb.org/ this morning, and there's been a major drop in the number of instances and users. Is this due to cleanup of spam accounts? The totals on the top still seem to indicate growth.
Users from May --> June are *down* 3,302,812 Instances from May --> June are *down* 6,046 These seem like very large numbers to me.
Is this a glitch in the graphs, or is this accurate @FediDB@dansup ?
@thomasfuchs I think I'm remembering now...720k was the "non-HD" 3.5" disk capacity, wasn't it? It's like I have to bring these facts back from archived storage.
@thomasfuchs Man, you just have to punch the read/write notch in the other side, and then you have like 720k. My brother and I did this so many times we broke several regular paper hole punches. We ended up buying a specific device for making the square notches in 5 1/4 floppy disks.
@codinghorror@thomasfuchs Unless you're prepared to stop people from linking to a public mastodon post, then the issue isn't whether or not to allow it, because it's already happening. The issue is whether or not there should be a better user experience around it than there is currently. And that's a no-brainer.
@atomicpoet Are groups like #calckey 's channels? Because I think this was the differentiation point I was missing to see the difference between #groups and #hashtags.
@atomicpoet Doesn't each Mastodon server have a cached version of every profile it has seen? In @elk at least, there are two options: "Copy link to this post" and "Copy original link to this post".
