@thomasfuchs That's about how inconvenient downloading them is. Handling that many floppies might even be preferable. 🤦 Games are so dead to me because of this shit.

@thomasfuchs oh, and don't forget to waste maybe 30W per floppy

@thomasfuchs limit the data transmission speed to 100 kbps and increase seek time to some 200 ms, and you'll get a close approximate, I guess?

@GrahamDowns @thomasfuchs My disk one for privateer was corrupted and it took ages to get a new one. So long that I more quickly got a copy from a friend. Anyway. That dreaded sound of the drive. And then try VGAcopy and see if you could rescue it

@thomasfuchs I remember as a teenager, I got Wing Commander: Privateer. It came on 16 x 1.44MiB stiffy disks. Which, at the time, was the biggest game I'd ever seen. I couldn't believe a game could be that big. 😆

@thomasfuchs @siracusa I really didn’t respect floppies much until they were 1.4K and I had two drives or a hard disk.

@thomasfuchs Man, you just have to punch the read/write notch in the other side, and then you have like 720k. My brother and I did this so many times we broke several regular paper hole punches. We ended up buying a specific device for making the square notches in 5 1/4 floppy disks.

@thomasfuchs I think I'm remembering now...720k was the "non-HD" 3.5" disk capacity, wasn't it? It's like I have to bring these facts back from archived storage.
